Full Version: kse power steering pump question?

And now for the first question. Almost forgot my manors. Thank you Mr. Moderator. We'll see how it goes.

The older kse powersteering pumps have a slot in the cover plate that appears to be the passage for oil flow to lubricate the center shaft. Does the slot go on the intake side of the pump or does it go on the output side of the pump. I think that it goes on the output side because the output side is the only side with a pressure relief. The pressure relief feeds excess/overpressure fluid straight back to the input side of the pump. Because of that I think there can actually be higher pressure internally in the pump on the intake side of the pump, especially at high rpm or when maximum fluid is needed for the wing.

Anyhow asking the question again does the slot in the cover of the kse pump go on the output side of the pump or the input side.

Not that it seems like anybody really cares but here is the answer I got from KSE.

"The slot always goes to the inlet side so the suction will pull oil
away from the seal."
