The exciting summer racing action at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway continues this Saturday, July 14th as we present Frankland Racing/American Diecast Racer Appreciation Night. Competitors in the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic DIRTcar Super Late Models, Brougher's Machine Shop FASTRAK/Pro-Lates, Miley Truck, Sunoco Race Fuels DIRTCar Late Model Sportsman, the Miley BP Car Wash DirtCar Hobby Stocks and the Imperial Heights Garage Young Guns will receive a $75.00 gift card redeemable at Frankland Racing Supply. In addition, all competitors in the Super Late Models, Pro-Lates and Late Model Sportsman will receive $100.00 to start their feature event or $100.00 tow money this Saturday.
Berk's Hot Dogs and Nickles Bakery are also sponsoring "Dollar Dog Night" and hot dogs will be priced at $1.00 in both the Checkered Flag Food Court and the pit concession stand.
"We are extremely excited to have Catie Morley and the entire staff of Frankland Racing Supply and American Diecast on board for the Racer Appreciation event," commented Speedway owner Matt Miley. "Both Frankland and American Diecast have served the racing community for many years. In addition both businesses are headquartered here in Western PA so many of our weekly competitors use their products and services on a regular basis."
This Saturday's racing action will also feature the third installment of Wacky Wheels Figure Eight Mania. Defending Wacky Wheels Champion Joe Podolinsky, has been "shut out" in the 2012 action as veterans Curt Habedl and Jake Simmons have scored the wins thus far. Podolinsky is definitely looking to score the $150.00 first place prize money this week as Wacky Wheels competition provides the competitors with a fun and very affordable way to 'get in on the racing action at PPMS.' In addition the Western PA Vintage Modified Division will make its first ever appearance at the Imperial, PA oval. The division features restored Modified cars from the 1960's and 1970's and the competitors will also have their cars on display behind the main grandstand prior to the evening's racing action.
The Late Model Sportsman and Hobby Stock feature events that were rained out on July 1st will kick off the evening's racing action at approximately 6:15. The regular racing action is slated to begin promptly at 7:00PM.
This week's off track activities will include a Hot Dog Eating Contest at intermission. Race fans, drivers and pit crew members are encouraged to participate as prizes will be awarded.
We are also pleased to annouce the new "Big Pit Monster Meal" that will be available exclusively in the Pit Concession. The meal features a quarter pound hamburger, large french fries and a 32 ounce fountain drink for just $8.00.
Pit and Grandstand Admission gates for Saturday's action will open at 5:00.
Adult Grandstand Admission for this week's racing action is $13.00. Seniors, Ages 60 and Over, are admitted for $12.00 with Juniors, Ages 13 to 16, priced at $9.00. Admission for Children aged Six through 12 is $5.00 and Children Under Age Six will be admitted Free. In addition, all children aged Six through 12 will receive a free gift when they present their admission ticket at the PPMS Gift Shop, which now features Apparel by Denise. Pit Admission for this week's racing is $25.00.
In 2012, the management of Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway will utilize a Sunday evening rain date in the event Mother Nature fails to cooperate with the Saturday night racing action. Times for the Sunday rain dates are as follows: Pit and Grandstand Admission Gates open at 4:00PM, Hot Laps at 5:00PM and Racing at 6:00PM.
Fans are also invited to bring their own refreshments however; glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are not permitted. In addition, coolers are limited to 14 inches or smaller in size. Don't forget that the Checkered Flag Food Court has a great variety of delicious food like grilled chicken sandwiches, curly fries, fruit salad, hot pretzels and popcorn at "fan friendly prices."
