The Pittsburgh Circle Track Club looks to kick its season into high gear this weekend with a double header of PCTC Club Nights! On Friday, July 13th, the PCTC will converge on the Bedford Fairgrounds for a PCTC Club Night at Bedford Speedway! Headlining the show will be the 25 lap, $1000-to-win race for the Late Model Sportsman! Also in action will be the Late Models, Semi Lates, Pure Stocks, & Four Cylinders!
For the second half of the Club Night doubleheader, the PCTC will trek westward on Route 30 to Thunder Valley Raceway! This will be a special night as it's also the Crusin' for Courtney special. Courtney was a 15 year old girl that had lost an 18 month battle with cancer on Mothers Day of 2006. Every year, Thunder Valley races in her honor. The funds from the initial tribute night helped the family with giving their daughter a proper send off. Even though assistance was no longer needed, Courtney's family asked if this could be a regular event to help other children and their families that are in need of some help. This is a cause that everyone in the entire extended Thunder Valley family really wants to be a part of.
This year's version of Crusin' for Courtney night will be held in order to help an 11 year old boy who has been a quadriplegic since being severely injured in a motor vehicle accident at the age of 2. The local Johnstown native, Jake Clontz, will be honored during the August 4th 3 State Flyer race at Thunder Valley, when a driver will be selected at random to sport a specially decaled and donated door panel. Fans can purchase a raffle ticket, and upon completion of the feature that night, the door panel will be raffled off in victory lane. Looking to tackle the Somerset County half mile will be the Late Models, Semi Lates, Pure Stocks, and Four Cylinders!
Card-carrying PCTC members will be admitted free into the stands and half off in the pits! Prizes, such as t-shirts, hats, and free memberships to the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club will be given away mainly based on some fun trivia, so bring your thinking caps! If you have any questions, comments, or are interested in joining, you can reach us at racefan68x@comcast.net.
