Friday was Nostalgia Night at Lernerville. The Pittsburgh Circle Track Club hosted "Old Timers Night" featuring dozens of retired drivers from the first four decades of Don Martin's Lernerville Speedway. The guests from the Annals of Action Track History had a chance to an eat and greet meal courtesy of the Circle Track Club from 5:00-6:00 and then headed to the expanded vendor area from 6:00-7:00 to mingle with fans for autographs, pictures and some gold old fashioned bench racing!

The following drivers were in attendance: Bob Axe, Dick Bailey, Ray Baselj, Banker Beach, Carl Bittner, Paul Brougher, Harley Chuba, Bud Daum, Howie Goss, Gene Habbyshaw, Doc Harmon, Kenny & Kevin Harris, Dick Hecker, Harry Hein, Gary & Jeff Henry, Dave Hoffman, Bob Lucci, Jim Magill, Jerry Matus, Dave Meloy, Jerry McDowell, Ron McIntyre, Dave McMillan, Dave Mohn, Carl Murdick, Barry Peters, Ron Piovesan, Bob Puz, Dave Rupp, Deek Scott, Smokey Schempp, Dick Swartzlander, Jack Sodeman, Randy Stivason, Dick Swartzlander, Jim & Tom Valasek, Larry Walters, Blackie Watt, Bill Wheeling

The following cars were on display:

Paul Bacchus (#7A Deek Scott Modified)

Al Byerly (#47 1939 Chevy Coupe)

Lynn Geisler (# 3 PRA 1938 Ford Coupe)

Howie Goss (1957 Chevy Late Model)

Jim Kurpakus (#4 Coupe)

Gary Mariani (#11 1937 Chevy Coupe)

Dale McCandless (#1 Modified)

Jim McDermott (#5 Big Block Modified)

Jerry McDowell (#22 Sprint)

Jim & Bob McMillin (#5 Sprint Car)

Junior Radvansky (Midget Race Car)

Darwin Stivenson (#0 1936 Chevy Coupe)

Don Tarr (#28 Six Cylinder Modified)

Mark Weigle (#68 1939 Chevy Coupe)

The PA Vintage Dirt Modified Series had a wonderful display of cars on hand and we appreciate their effort and involvement for the evening activity.

Special thanks to Bob Miller who organized the PCTC Food Fest. And thanks to the fine folks that managed the activities at the pavillion…Cheryl & Brittany Kennedy, Loren Burke, Linda Blumling, Jim & Teri Slimick and Bob McWilliams

We also want to thank Gary Risch Jr, Eric Westendorf and the staff at Lernerville for their help.

Good job as always Don and Jim. Love the vintage cars, especially the vintage Mods. Nostalgia Night is one of the highlights of the season for me, unfortunately I couldn't make it early enough this year other than to take a quick walk around the cars. Ted Wise's McMillan #5 was awesome, whoever did the restoration. Just like I remember it.

Fantastic to be part of the night. Also like to acknowledge the #6 Gremlin Modified of Rick Pastor who towed up from Maryland and the #55 ex Blackie Watt 'Mudd Bus' Modified of David George for their participation in the display and racing on the track. On behalf of the PA Vintage Dirt Modifieds, a huge THANKYOU to Don Gamble and Gary Risch for allowing us to be part of this night. After the success and massive feedback we got from last Friday, we'll definitely be back bigger and better in 2013, both with display and race cars. Dingo Pics courtesy of Gene Habbyshaw.

Don, as always an awesome display of Western PA history on Nostalgia Night. The addition of the PA Vintage Modified Club made the night so much better! Keep an eye on Racingweb.com in the next couple of weeks for a feature story and accompanying video from Lernerville's Nostalgia Night. Waiting for some in-car footage from the 47 car and the editing process can begin. JZ
