They announced several times last night that next Saturday would be the season finale. It's kind of sad that a race track has to use a non affiliated 3rd party to release press statements. You would think that somebody would be able to update a website with at least minimal information. I have heard some very positive rumors for next year but we will have to wait till the first week of the season to see if any of them are true. Hopefully they can at least get the opening date, for next season, on the schedule before it starts. Maybe they can get Blaz on the payroll for next year or they can take note of the hard work Matt Miley puts into promoting.

Yes, Sunday show is cancelled! I had planned to post that but forgot when I posted the results. I am sure by this afternoon sometime I will have the press release to post.

Even though I am not an employee or whatever, I try to help out and get info posted from the track. The Potts Family has had a hard summer........and I too hope that some of the stuff that is planned occurs.....it would help to ensure the track is there in the future...

Marion Center Speedway- August 25, 2012 - Don Peffer Marion Center Speedway ran its full six division regular schedule Saturday night for Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Night as the regular season starts coming to a close before next Saturday’s Butler Auto Supplies Season Finale. Here are the results of the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic night: Dave Blazavich won the Lias Tire Super Latemodels’ feature by going flag to flag in the lead. Blazavich started on the outside pole, took the lead for the first lap and continued up front for every lap after that until the checkered flag came out twenty-five laps later. This was Dave Blazavich’s third trip to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle this season. Blazavich of Marion Center was in second place in points for the Lias Tire Latemodel division, forty-one points behind Rod Phillips of Punxsutawney. One will need to go online to marioncenterspeedway.net to find out the current point standings. Sammy Stile of Charleroi moved up from seventh place to finish second with Phillips close behind him in third. Denton Boyer, also from Punxsy, was fourth and Bob Sheesley of Marion Center took fifth. Rounding out the top ten in order were Chad Helman, Herman Bertolini, Ken Schaltenbrand, Mike Blose and Billy Eash. The remaining cars finished in the order of Duane Stiner, Jerry Redden, Terry Rayko, John Myers, Jim Kurpakus, Wil Stile, Shane McMeans, Tyler Dietz and Shawn Schaltenbrand-who did not start the feature. The Lias Tire Super Latemodel heat races were won by Mike Blose, Denton Boyer and Terry Rayko. It was another one leader race Saturday night, this time it was for the Willow Farm Campground Steel Block Limited Latemodels. Scott Stein from Cherry Tree is the leader of everything good in the division, the race and the points. Stein started on the pole and even after several restarts, managed to stay up front of everybody lap after lap. Outside pole sitter, Bill Davis from Luthersburg stayed with Stein throughout the race but never passed the leader to settle into second place. Cheyenne Reed, who is second in points to Stein, was pushing the pack around in third place until the halfway flags came out then was caught up in a mess on the track that took out Reed and three other contenders-Weakland, Jobe, & Petyak. The racing continued and Stein led the way to the checkered flag with Bill Davis coming in second, Bernie Whiteford from Hastings moved into third and Eric Baun, last weeks winner from Rossiter was fourth, and that left fifth place for Gale Huey of Glen Campbell. Mike Hite was sixth and the rest of the top ten consisted of Joe Zulisky, Mike Laughard, Carl Pierce and Dwayne Taneyhill. The Willow Farm Campground Steel Block Limited Latemodel heat races went to Scott Stein, Bill Davis and Jeff Taylor. Dane Laraway from Harrison City was once again behind the wheel of his ¾ Scale Latemodel racing machine and also back to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle he went. Laraway started in the second row and took the lead from Jason Fosnaught of Creighton after the first lap. Laraway stayed up front the remaining fourteen laps to gain his tenth victory of the division this season and a trophy from Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic. Lance Smith from Renfrew was back in the ¾ Scale Latemodel and drove to second place keeping Chris Frank behind him leaving Frank, of Leechburg, in third that pushed Fosnaught back to fourth and Patrick Waugh of New Florence in fifth. Mike Beacon of Butler made his Marion Center debut and was sixth. Chris Frank was the winner of the heat race. It was nearly a clean sweep of all twenty laps for Nate Smith of Glen Campbell in the W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock feature. Smith came into the Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic night’s races trailing point leader, Jeff Sweeney by twenty-five points and proceeded to start racking up points to try and catch him. Smith didn’t lead the first two laps of the feature, leaving those to pole position starter, Brett Bingaman of Cherry Tree. But Smith took the lead for laps three to twenty to go to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle. It wasn’t an easy run with Tim White and Sweeney in hot pursuit, but Smith was able to keep them all behind him and took the checkered flag. An incident on the track involving some of the top contenders took out the ones most likely at the time to have been able to catch Smith. Matt Hugill of Mahaffey was second and Ray Hickok, Jr. from Commodore was third. Corey Neal of Trade City took fourth and Bingaman finished fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Eric Lingenfelter, Gabe Shaffer, John Poling, Brent Lee and Gary Furman, Jr. The W. G. Satterlee & Sons Street Stock heat races were won by Nate Smith and Corey Neal. Nick Fulmer of Marion Center pulls off an end of race pass for the win in the Today’s Hot Country, Q-102 Strictly Stock feature. Fulmer started on the pole but relinquished the lead to outside pole sitter, Fred Casagni of Vandergrift. Casagni led the first two laps until he was passed by Justin Queen of Irvona. Queen looked set for victory leading lap after lap and keeping the rest of the pack close behind him but behind none-the-less. Luke Barnett, Jim Hamilton and Nick Fulmer were all pushing Queen around the track. Near the end when the two laps to go flags came out, it was all out for the finish line and with cars trading places and trying to squeeze through too tight of spots and then it happened—Hamilton passed Barnett, came up on Queen, was nudged from the rear just enough to loose grip and started a slide that everyone in the front got touched, bumped or whatever and were fishtailing getting back under control-everyone was trying to avoid each other and ended up with a crazy finish with Nick Fulmer in the right spot to narrowly avoid any other car just barely getting past the leader Queen in time to take the checkered flag away from Queen. Queen thought he had won-it was that close-but Fulmer had crossed the line first for his second feature win of the season for the top point man in the Today’s Hot Country, Q-102 Strictly Stock division. The Q-102 Strictly Stock heat races went to Justin Queen and Kylie Hamilton. The first half of the Front Wheel Drive 4 Cylinder Riceburners’ feature was led by Jon Lee of Mahaffey. But after the halfway flags came out, Tim Bish from Ringgold took over the lead and took the victory away from Lee. Bish had started fifth in the nine-car field and worked his way to the front. Once in front, he stayed in front to go to the Integra Racing Shocks Winner’s Circle and collect his Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic trophy. Jon Lee finished second and Craig Decker of Cherry Tree took third. Then across the line were John Miller of Punxsutawney, and Robert Lydic from Rochester Mills, followed by Tommy Whiteford, Matt Eiselman and Eric Shaffer. Chris Hickok had left the race earlier due to problems. The Front Wheel Drive 4 Cylinder Riceburners heat race was won by Craig Decker. i agree to a point.....i don't think it would hurt them one bit to have a increased purse end of the year show...hell most tracks are still running into october and they are shut down already...pretty sure clinton county even has an october 2 day show...

Most tracks???? Really? Lernerville's regular season ended last Friday. Dog Hollow is also done this coming weekend. Thunder Valley has one more weekend after this weekend. Besides a few specials, things are going to get quiet around this area for tracks.

Mr. Potts didn't pass all that long ago. Why not be a bit respectful and not make some smart ass comments making yourself look like an knucklehead. See what happens in the off season when they have some time and can plan some things for the upcoming year.

Marion Center just the way it is still has some of the better racing in the area. Always a good LM show there. Even if they quit after this week, oh well, they have had a good season. And they gotta be doing something right, as they hae been running a long time with the same owners and they are at it year after year. More than alot of area tracks can say. Now, they could use some restrooms. But as far as the racing and schedule goes, don't really see why anyone is complaining.

Not a Smart Ass comment at all...Knuclehead! Just Facts....Take Mr. Potts passing totally out of it! For the last six years alteast...they have been scheduling Holiday specials and cancelling them! Why bother to schedule them???? Last year the problem was some house breakin or something that caused the end of the season to come earlier than advertized! Its allways something! Just don't schedule them and get fans hopes up to start with! Do what you promise!
