BUCKEYE MACHINE B.O.S.S NON WING SPRINTS TO MAKE FIRST EVER APPEARANCE AT RACEWAY 7 FRIDAY MAY 23 WITH FIREWORKS!!!

History will be made Friday May 23rd as RACEWAY 7 owner Dan McDonald will for the first time ever in track history bring in a non wing 410 sprint  show sanctioned by the Buckeye Machine Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (B.O.S.S.) let by founder Aaron Fry to the 7/16 mile semi banked oval!!

The non wing Sprints are the purest form of auto racing as they date back to 1895 when the first ever race was held in Rhode Island with single centered seat, open wheel, front engine, centered drivetrain, no rules package machines. These cars evolved into the “big cars” which raced at Indianapolis in 1911 and all around the country on Board tracks and fairgrounds up until World War two. These cars today are the great grandchildren of those legendary vehicles with the same basic characteristics as in 1895!!

Many hall of fame Indianapolis drivers risked their lives challenging death every night with names like A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones, and countless others racing the non wing machines on dirt and asphalt in the 1950s and 1960s while racing at Indy.

The local scene in the Western Pa/Eastern Ohio was ablaze with its own Hall of Fame crop as Lou Blaney, Ralph Quarterson, Gus Linder, and Steve Ungar amassed over 1,000 wins and countless track championships in the non wing Sprints from the 1960s to the 1980s.

The non wing Sprints became a stepping stone to NASCAR in the 80s and 90s as drivers like Dave Blaney, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Ken Schrader, Ryan Newman and the late Kenny Irwin all enhanced their skills on the dirt and pavement ovals before going to NASCAR.

Now a new crop of young guns are challenging themselves in the Ohio/Pa area racing the “traditional” non wing sprint cars including Dustin Smith-2012 B.O.S.S champion, Mike Miller-2013 B.O.S.S Rookie of the year, Brandon Spithaler, Michael Fischesser-current point leader and the Beabers-son Tony who was the 2013 champion and father Johnny who is a multi time track champion around the circuit going back to 1976 and has over 300 career wins at Lernerville, Mercer and Tri city among others. Johnny raced at Raceway 7 in the early 1980s when the winged Sprints ran weekly. Other famous national sprint drivers who have competed at Raceway 7 include World of Outlaw king Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, 1981 track champ Kenny Jacobs, Lee Osborne, Rich Vogler and NASCAR driver Dave Blaney.

Raceivers and transponders will be required for the show. Gates will open at 5:30 with drivers meeting around 6:30 with hot laps at 7 PM. Race time will be at 7:30 and will also include the regular Raceway 7 lineup of Crate Late Models, Emods, Economods, Street Stocks and Mini Stocks. Adult general admission will be $15 for this special show.

2014 B.O.S.S. Bonus award sponsors have been secured with the Bridge Restaurant in Sidney, Ohio who has stepped up to cover the "Hard Charger" $50 cash bonus award in the main event at each race.  The $50 "Steel Block Award" given to the highest finisher in each A-Main using a steel engine block will now be covered by Hochstetler Truck and Auto Repair of Ashland, Ohio.  Finally, the 2014 "Hard Luck Award" is $50 cash given at each event to the driver voted by series officials to have had the worst racing luck of the night.  Coming aboard to cover that bonus for 2014 is Lynn Cook, a racer's friend.

These fine bonus sponsors now in place will go along with heat race sponsors Burdette Builders of Sunman, Indiana and Lias Tire / American Racer of Indiana, Pennsylvania.  Combining all this help with series title sponsor Buckeye Machine of Forest, Ohio, the traditional sprint drivers of the Midwest will have something really special to be a part of, including a guaranteed $10,000 points fund among the top 10 at season's end.

For more information on the series, please visit the series website at www.buckeyesprints.com or email the series owner at sprinter14@hotmail.com or phone 740-703-3768. For more information on Raceway 7 please visit www.raceway7.com or visit their Facebook page. On race day call 440-594-2222. Raceway 7 is a 7/16 mile semi banked clay oval located 5 miles south of I-90 on St. Rt. 7 in Bushnell (Conneaut) Ohio. It is owned and operated by the McDonald family since 2010.
