FASTRAK Northeast race fans continued to enjoy plenty of exciting racing action throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia as Shawn Jett swept the weekend's racing action at the Elkins Raceway. Matt Melvin (Skyline Speedway), Mike Laughard (Marion Center Speedway) and Joe Martin (Dog Hollow Speedway) also picked up wins as another FASTRAK Northeast weekend was put in the books.
Friday night FASTRAK Pro-Late Model racing action at the Elkins Raceway (Elkins, WV) saw two starts called back before a successful start to the event saw Danny Thomas lead the first circuit. Following a lap two restart Jett was able to motor by both Danny and Kyle Thomas to take over the top spot. Multiple cautions resulted in the time limit expiring and Jett being declared the winner. Kyle Thomas finished in the runner-up spot followed by Danny Thomas, Kris Southern and Aldon Butcher completing the top five.
The Budweiser sponsored FASTRAK Pro-Late Models returned to action the following evening with Jett once again scoring the victory in his Aluminum Service Center, Inc./Herc Oil and Gas/Jett Racing sponsored Rocket Chassis. Kyle Thomas finished in the second spot for the consecutive night with Derek Rogers, Southern and Joel Prosser rounding out the top five.
Joe Martin of Mayport, PA scored his first FASTRAK Northeast victory of the season on Friday evening at the Dog Hollow Speedway (Strongstown, PA). Martin took command on the second circuit and went on to score his first victory at the Indiana County, PA oval in nearly two years. Last week's victor Andrew Satterlee came home in the second position with Mike Laughard, Corey Neal and Joe Moyer following.
Marion Center Speedway is the FASTRAK Northeast's Saturday night stop and Mike Laughard scored the win for the second time this season. Satterlee was once again the "bridesmaid" as he finished in the second position. Michael Lauffer, Neal and Scott Ickes claimed positions three through five.
The Skyline Speedway in Stewart, OH was back in action on Saturday night, July 12th and Matt Melvin claimed the FASTRAK win over Buddy Brogan, Zach Milbee, Zach Hill and Jay Helton.
Thunderstorms moved into the area on Sunday morning and forced the Eriez Speedway (Erie, PA) to cancel their racing action.
FASTRAK Northeast teams are reminded that in order to receive FASTRAK weekly points you must be racing on FASTRAK approved Hoosier tire compounds. FASTRAK Northeast weekly points are being reviewed and revised accordingly.
This week's Friday night FASTRAK Northeast action includes the Midway Speedway (Crooksville, OH), Elkins Raceway (Elkins, WV) and the Dog Hollow Speedway (Strongstown, PA). The I-77 Raceway in Ripley, WV will host the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series in addition to their weekly divisions. The winner of the ULTIMATE main event will take home a $5,000 paycheck. The Jackson County Speedway (Jackson, OH) is closed this weekend.
FASTRAK Northeast action on Saturday night includes Tyler County Speedway (Middlebourne, WV) as well as the Skyline Speedway (Stewart, OH). FASTRAK Northeast teams and fans in Western and Central PA are encouraged to stop by the Marion Center Speedway (Marion Center, PA) on Saturday evening to enjoy the racing action as well as the Kids Bike Races.
The weekend will conclude at Eriez Speedway (Erie, PA) on Sunday night as the speedway will host a six division racing program along with Autograph Night. This will be the final opportunity for teams to prepare for the FASTRAK Northeast Touring event that will take place at the speedway on Sunday, July 27th.
