There are some very close races this year in my annual Cavalcade points for area drivers with changes every week!!

SPRINT CARS.......Very close three-way race with Carl Bowser now leading Danny Hoiltgraver by 2 points and Brandon Matus by 5.  The two All Star races at Mercer this week could be the key to who ends up on top come October as both races are triple points!!

LATE MODELS.........WIDE OPEN!!!!   Jared Miley leads by 8 points, but with a number of big races coming up, anyone of about a half-dozen drivers could win when all is said and done!!

1.   H1  Jared Miley     47 (7)

2.  w11 Robbie Blair  39 (6)

2.    83  Matt Sever   39  (4)

4.     5   Mike Blose  38 (9)

5.   10   Alex Ferree   36 (7)

5.  111  Max Blair  36  (7)

7.   22  Gregg Satterlee  30  (4)

LIMITED LATE MODELS...........Rick Singleton now leads Max Blair by 6 points after being tied a week ago. Third place Chad Ruhlman is 25 points back, so appears out of it.

LIMITED SPRINT CARS..........Another WIDE OPEN race with Ralph Engle, Jr. and Andy Feil tied for the lead over surprising Sprint Car rookie Cody Bova who moved up from the Mod Lites this year.  Bova is just 5 points back and is closely followed by Jimmy Morris, and Michael Bauer.  Mercer has several double and triple point races left, which hurts Engle as he does not run there with his Racesaver engine.

STOCK CARS.......This is a crazy one!!   Nate Smith has been leading since May by dominating Marion Center and Dog Hollow with 17 wins.  However, a couple of weeks back he was set down by Marion Center officials for his part in a controversial crash. Since that time Dog Hollow hasn't run the class and I think Smith has only raced once, last week at Roaring Knob, where he finished 6th and did not earn any points. Smith's lead has begun to shrink and is now down to just 7 points.  Pavement pounder A. J. Poljak is undefeated in 15 races at Motordrome, but that track has only three more races.  Poljak could pass Smith by 2 points if he wins all three races. but how about some of the strong runners who do well in the season closing "open" races, many of which are $1,000 to win triple point races.  Could the likes of Chris Schneider, Rusty Moore or two time Cavalcade Point winner Chris Withers close the gap and win the 2014 honors!!!   This will be interesting to watch and the most unpredictable of the seven classes I keep points for!!

MODIFIEDS..........Rex King, Jr. has a 15 point lead over his dad and looks like a good bet to win his first Cavalcade honor unless he falters in the final half-dozen or so races.  Jim Weller is third, 25 points back but almost mathematically out of it.

LIMITED MODIFIEDS.........This one is all but over as Joel Watson has over twice the points as second place Rich Michael, Jr. and seems all but assured his third Cavalcade honor in four years.

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!

Walt
