Joey Saldana holds off a hard charging David Gravel to win Commonwealth Clash

Great night by Logan Wagner ends in disappointment battling for second

Sarver, PA (September 20, 2014) Coming off his sixth World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series win of the season last night at Eldora Speedway, Joey Saldana led all 35 laps of the $10,000-to-win Commonwealth Clash presented by GottaRace.com in the Motter Motorsports #71M.  Saldana started on the outside pole alongside star of the night Logan Wagner who won heat race #4 and the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series Dash.  Wagner’s night came to a disappointed end mid-race when he and David Gravel made contact on the front straightaway battling for second.  The contact sent Wagner into the infield jersey barrier and a disappointing 22nd place finish.  Gravel was all over Saldana for the final 10 laps, but could not find a clean way around him to make a pass for the lead.  Saldana scored his seventh win of the season and first at Lernerville Speedway since 2010.  Paul McMahan joined Saldana and Gravel on the podium.  Hometown favorite Danny Holtgraver scored a solid top five finish; one spot behind fourth place finisher Shane Stewart.  Fellow former Track Champion Tim Shaffer finished tenth.

Excellent race. That's the best Saldana has run at Lernerville in the last few years. Great weather, great track surface, big crowd and home before 10:30. That's how a show should be run. Four warm-up sessions, TT's, four heats, a dash a B-Main and the A-main and there were only three cautions all night.

Great job last night.  Racing was good in the feature and the program was run extremely quick.  Back to Pittsburgh by 11.  Great night!
