[quote name="sle21" post="406826" timestamp="1432172359"]It saves the racer money because they don't have to have different tires for different tracks. If they allow you to run an open competition tire, it will be competitive at other tracks so we don't have to stock up on multiple brands, constructions, and compounds.

If I race at Lernerville and only Lernerville how can that save me money.

I'd say Mrs Martin made out pretty well selling it to Vicis and Mr Tomson got one heck of a deal buying it from them......

If that number is correct.....and there was no "under the table" deal as part of the sale!   You just never know!

Most of the teams that race there Friday race elsewhere over the weekend, or run specials. The needs of many trump the needs of a few.

You guys are forgetting different tracks have different tires that work well there .... AR's run better at some
Tracks and Hoosiers are better at other places. I agree that dumping money into the ump point fund by paying extra for tires when there's only 1 ump track around makes zero sense just like allowing anything other than 30's or 40's makes zero sense

It doesn't......

But if you go with an open Brand limited compound rule it will give the drivers the option on what brand to run and that could save the drivers money.

The best thing Mr Tomson could do is have a meeting with all the drivers in all four classes and see what their feelings are to make the track better and what to do with the rules, tires, and UMP sanction.

The best thing Mr. Tomson could do is not listen to anybody on this board

But Andrew if they just allowed drysumps , aluminum blocks and inerter shocks in the cadets they would have 200 cars a night and fans pay big money to watch cadets !!

There's just no good reason that cadets should have full data acquisition , gps controlled traction control and FRIC active handling control like F1 has !! There's hundreds of cadets sitting in garages just waiting for a rules package like this !!!

They should also mandate all cadets have a lift gate trailer and bring 2 cars Incase they wreck one in hot laps

Jon you might be on to something here actually.  There are more "cadets" then SLM at Lernerville already, and PPMS dropped SLM on a weekly basis and kept "Cadets" as well.  Given how close your SLM lap times were to those front running "Cadets" when you did run PPMS last year maybe you should consider making the move to a full time "Cadet" driver!

Because the UMP spec tire costs more than the exact same tire that is for open competition. The only difference is a stamp on the sidewall.

Go with an open brand rule and 44 and harder on the durometer for the compound rule. That's a prefect tire rule in my mind.

I don't disagree, but I don't see opening the tire rule up really bringing any more late models. Maybe Blose and Laraway, but that's really it.

Obviously you didn't read the post correctly then.  If you want to run other tracks as well then you need more tires.  If you would like to run at a track that has no tire rules you cannot expect an LM tire to compare to an open competition tire.  If the rules were opened up to allow racers to run open competition tires, they wouldn't need to buy extra sets to be competitive at other tracks.

Don't know why you get so pissy when someone busts your balls. You do it 24/7 then throw a fit when someone responds. You're like that kid in elementary school who makes fun of people all day then tells the teacher when someone does it to you.
