By Jim Zufall & Mike Leone

July 12, 2016             FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Pulaski, PA)For the most part, good weather prevailed over the region as all but one track was able to beat Mother Nature last weekend in the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC RUSH Racing Series powered by Pace Performance.  Two RUSH Late Model racers were able to garner their first wins of the season as the Pace "Summer Chase" program rolled through its second of ten weekends.

Outlaw Speedway dodged the rain drops that Freedom Motorsports Park wasn't able to avoid as the Dundee, NY oval held its annual driver autograph night, and signing autographs as a winner was Brian Knowles.  The RUSH Late Model feature event saw Knowles lead all 20 laps holding off his brother Jason Knowles for his third straight win after never winning a RUSH feature before!  Third through fifth were Bob Buono, Adam Depuy and Frank Guererri Jr.

Saturday night at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, both the RUSH Late Models and Sportsman Modifieds were on hand for a packed racing card.  In the Precise Racing Products RUSH Late Models it was the #93X of Justin Lamb picking up his first win since 2014.  Lamb held off a stout field of cars that included Michael Reft, Daryl Charlier, Ben Policz and John Mollick. It was Lamb's first win on the $135 sealed, spec Bilstein Shocks since getting on the package late last season.

Also at PPMS, the RUSH Sportsman Modifieds made their first of four appearances of the season as Nick Ritchey bested a record field of 17 cars at the "Monster Half-Mile".  Plenty of action was going on behind Ritchey in the 20-lap event.  In the end, he held off Brian Schaffer, Chelsie Kriegisch, Kyle Martel and Jeremy Weaver, who turned 15 on Sunday.   The RUSH Sportsman Modifieds, who will be off again at Sharon Speedway this Saturday night, return to PPMS this Saturday for “Modasauerus X” for the BRP Modified tour Big Block Modifieds and four other regular PPMS divisions.

Saturday night at Winchester Speedway in Virginia, Logan Roberson visited Victory Lane for the second time this season in the 20-lap RUSH Late Model main event.  Coming from his fifth place starting position, Roberson worked his way to the front and took the top spot from Darrin Henderson on lap 16.  Running the high side and holding the lead the rest of the way, Roberson said in victory lane, “The top of the track just came to us here tonight.  I followed the leaders on the bottom for a bunch of laps and decided to try the top and the car stuck and we were able to get the lead."  Henderson settled for second with Tyler Hoy, Transton Stoner and Steve Lowery rounding out the top five.  The RUSH Late Models return to the Winchester schedule on July 23.

Saturday at Stateline Speedway in Busti, NY, the RUSH Pro Mod feature belonged to Jason Covey who took the lead from pole sitter Brad Blackshear in his first appearance at Stateline this season.  With many changes for position behind him, Covey held on for his third win, which put him in the Sweeney Weekly Series point lead.  Kelley Frederes, Justin Carlson, Scott Gurdak and Brandon Blackshear were third through fifth.

The RUSH Late Models were also on the card at Stateline on Saturday as 19 cars were on hand- the highest of the season.  Defending champion Jason Genco started on the pole with Jeff Hoffman to his right.  Five laps in, Darrell Bossard came from his sixth place start to the lead to be joined by Damian Bidwell, winner of the last two feature events coming from 10th on the grid.  At halfway it was Bossard, Bidwell and Genco as the top three.  When the dust settled, Bossard had scored his second win of the year with Bidwell coming up short of the hat trick in second.  Dave Lyon finished third utilizing a 16-year-old car after flipping his new car at Eriez the week before.  Genco dropped to fourth over Andy Boozel. A full program of racing is on tap this Saturday at Stateline.

In Orrville, Ohio Eric Wilson took the lead late in the RUSH Late Model feature over Justin Chance at Wayne County Speedway.  Wilson went on for his second win of the 2016 campaign as he's now won by Sweeney Weekly Series races he's competed in at Wayne County this year.  Chance, Dave Airgood, Alan Dellinger and Matt Aber were third through fifth.  Wayne County returns to action this Saturday (July 16).

North to New York where at Fulton Speedway, where 20 cars took the green flag for the RUSH Late Model feature, which was the highest since 21 on opening night.  AJ Kingsley and Kevan Cook put on a clinic from the third lap to the end at the front of the competitive field of cars.  Kingsley held off Cook for his season's second win by just over half a second. Bret Belden, Chris Fleming and Jason Occhino finished third through fifth.  A full racing program is scheduled for this Saturday night at Fulton Speedway.

After an early soaking rain, officials at Genesee Speedway in Batavia, NY instructed all 89 cars in the pits to pack the track.  When racing got underway, it was Brad Mesler looking for his second win of the season in the RUSH Late Model feature.  Mesler got the lead away from Beamer Guzzardi on lap seven and never relinquished as he ran well up on the cushion to secure the win.  John Waters gained the top spot over a spinning Bill Holmes and held on for the runner up spot with Guzzardi, Andy Michael and Jon Rivers making up the top five. Back to action this Thursday at Genesee as the RUSH Late Models will be competing for $1,000 to win as part of the fair.

Sunday night at Eriez Speedway, pole sitter Bruce Hordusky, Jr. worked through a series of caution periods and even a red flag, trying to hold off defending Sweeney Weekly Series Champion Max Blair in the RUSH Late Models.  Blair used the top of the track to track down and finally pass Hordusky with just three laps to go.  Blair, who along with Hordusky and Mike Knight were heat race winners, held off Hordusky for his fourth win with Matt Latta, Chad Wright in his season's first start, and Andy Boozel making up the top five.  Regular racing action returns to Eriez this Sunday (July 17).

Old Bradford (PA) Speedway saw Brian Haggerty and Jeff Hoffman lead the RUSH Late Models to the green flag.  Hoffman took the early lead and never gave it up for what would be his first win at Bradford since 1989 and of course first ever in RUSH!  Damian Bidwell, Brady Wonderling, Andy Michael, and Brad Mesler rounded out the top five.  After not completing a race until June 12, Bradford has now run off five consecutive races.  Bradford will host another weekly program this Sunday.

Travis Martineau and Colton Ledingham led the field of RUSH Late Models to the green flag at Port Colborne, Ontario’s Humberstone Speedway on Sunday night.  But it was the Dennis Lunger Jr. moving to the front to take over the top spot on lap six. Rob Pietz followed Lunger and settled for the runner up spot with Colton Ledingham, Sam Pennacchio and Paul Grigsby rounding out the top five.  Lunger, the defending track champion, has now won three features this season at Humberstone, who gets back to it this Sunday with an autograph night and a full card of racing.

McKean County Raceway will return to action this Thursday (July 14).  Freedom Motorsports Park, has given the RUSH Late Models the night off this Friday to allow competitors to run the first ever Sweeney Tour event at Ransomville Speedway.  The RUSH Late Models are off at Potomac Speedway until July 29.  Path Valley Speedway Park hosts the RUSH Late Models this Friday night.
