FIRST HOMAK PENN OHIO PRO STOCK CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES RACE STARTED OFF WITH EXCITING RACING ACTION BETWEEN 50 STOCK CARS IN FIVE HEAT RACES BEFORE MOTHER NATURE SPOILED THE EVENT!

For Immediate Release

May 16, 2017 (Sandy Lake, PA) The first race of the season didn’t disappoint as far as car count for the Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series with 50 cars on hand to compete at Sharon Speedway last Saturday night.  However, the unexpected rain showers certainly put a damper on the evening’s festivities cutting the night short only after five exciting heat races were finished for the Series’ event.  Heat race winners were Andy Buckley, Rob Shook, Curt Bish, Rusty Moore and Rusty Martz.

The Applefest Make-up race from 2016 will be rescheduled to the July 22nd Homak Penn Ohio event.  Saturday’s event is to be determined on a make-up date.

The Series is hoping to get a full show in this Friday night, May 19th, at Thunder Mountain for the rescheduled May 5th event.  Thunder Mountain Speedway is located at 3406 Ramsaytown Road, Brookville, PA.  Gates will open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30.

All drivers will run qualifying laps to determine starting order.  Fastest Qualifier will receive $100 sponsored by Dirt Diggin’ Chassis.  The main feature event will be a 25-lap race, paying $1,500 to-win, $200 to start.  Additionally, if over 35 pro stocks participate, a B-Main non-qualifiers race will be run paying $500 to-win.

The Homak Penn Ohio Series will be charging a $35 registration fee for all drivers participating in the May 19th event.  All drivers will be eligible for a Hoosier tire and American Racer tire going to the highest finisher on that tire, along with a Big Daddy’s Gift Certificate awarded by random drawing.  Touring Series drivers will be eligible for a variety of additional contingency prizes: a bead lock rim donated by S&S Chassis Supply; a case of oil donated by Les Frickshun; various product donated by Precise Racing Products; and, gift certificates donated by Close Racing, Genesis Shocks, Schoenfeld Headers, ARbodies, Big Daddy’s Speed Center, Precise Racing Products, and Wedge Motorsports.   The hard charger will be awarded $50 donated by Shaffer’s Auto & Exhaust.

Drivers can still register for the 2017 Homak Penn Ohio Pro Stock Championship Series.  Registered drivers are eligible for per race contingency prizes like listed above, as well as major prizes awarded at the end of segment races and the banquet including: Homak tool carts and tool boxes; car wraps by Animal Graphics; car wrap by Phantom Signs and Graphics; ARbodies nose pieces; a set of Schoenfeld Headers; Five Star Bodies nose pieces; a set of Genesis shocks; and many gift certificates.  Drivers are also eligible to compete in four point chases: the main touring series’ points for $3,000 to-win; segment one points worth $1,000 to-win; segment two points worth $1,000 to-win; and, segment three points for $1,500 to-win.

Yes, several times. He was racing for second and dove in too low and too hard. Got sideways coming into 3 and hit a tire on the bottom flush in the right side panel. flipped two or three times and rolled twice. pretty brutal.
