FASTRAK Races For $3,000-To-Win, $275-To-Start This Saturday At Wythe Raceway

               CARNESVILLE, GA – The FASTRAK Pro Late Model Series will compete in a $3,000-to-win, $275-to-start race this Saturday night at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA.  This race is a rescheduled race from May 28, and will be the second jewel of the 12th Annual FASTRAK Triple Crown.

 

               The Wythe Raceway FASTRAK Triple Crown race will be a 50-lap $3,000-to-win, $275-to-start race.  The following is the complete payout:  1. $3,000; 2. $1,500; 3. $900; 4. $650; 5. $600; 6. $500; 7. $450; 8. $425; 9. $400; 10. $365; 11. $340; 12. $325; 13. $300; 14. $275; 15. $275; 16. $275; 17. $275; 18. $275; 19. $275; 20. $275; 21. $275; 22. $275; 23. $275; 24. $275.

 

               Matthew Nance of Ronda, NC will arrive at Wythe Raceway this Saturday night as the new FASTRAK South East Region point leader.  In his last two FASTRAK SE starts, Nance took his first career FASTRAK Touring win on July 3 at Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA, and followed that up with a second-place effort last Saturday night in the Rebel Yell 40 at Screven Motorsports Complex in Sylvania, GA.

 

               The finish of the Rebel Yell 40 tightened up the FASTRAK SE Championship point battle to where just 12 points separate the top five drivers.  Nance with 209 points has a five-point lead over two-time FASTRAK winner this season, Benji Hicks of Mt. Airy, NC, who has 204 points.  One point behind Hicks in third is Jensen Ford of Piney Flats, TN, who has 203 points in the third spot.

 

Former FASTRAK Champion Ron Parker of Belwood, NC is fourth with 202 points, and Rebel Yell 40 winner and defending FASTRAK SE Champion Cla Knight of North Augusta, SC is fifth with 197 points.  After the first seven races of the 2017 FASTRAK SE season, the point lead has changed hands after each race among Hicks, Knight, Ford, and Nance.

 

Phillip Thompson of Knoxville, TN will take to the ½-mile high-banked clay oval at Wythe Raceway sixth in the FASTRAK standings with 153 points, and he is also leading the Rookie of the Year point standings.  Dylan Lewis of Oakland, MD is second in the Rookie of the Year standings and seventh overall in the FASTRAK SE standings with 133 points.

 

Four-Time FASTRAK Champion David Smith of Inman, SC used a fourth-place finish in the Rebel Yell 40 to move up to the eighth spot in the FASTRAK SE standings with 128 points.  Frankie Beard of Hartwell, GA is ninth with 111 points, and Tyler Bare of Rockridge Baths, VA rounds out the top ten with 98 points.

 

The FASTRAK Triple Crown will also have a separate points system.  The driver with the most points in the end of the three races will be crowned the 2017 Triple Crown Champion at the conclusion of the final jewel of the 12th Annual Triple Crown on August 5 at Princeton Speedway in Princeton, WV. 

 

The first jewel was held at 311 Motor Speedway in Pine Hall, NC on May 26, and Steve Blackburn of Greensboro, NC was the race winner.  The defending Triple Crown Champion Ross Bailes of Clover, SC finished second at 311 Motor Speedway.

 

The Saturday night FASTRAK Triple Crown race at Wythe Raceway has the pit gate opening at 4 p.m., with FASTRAK Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. with Hot Laps at 7 p.m. and racing to follow.
