Homak Penn Ohio Series Announces Naming Contest for Stock Car Race

For Immediate Release

September 15, 2017 (Sandy Lake, PA) The Penn Ohio Stock Car Series continues to develop next season’s landmark event to be hosted by Sharon Speedway.  One of those developments includes the name of the event itself.

“After receiving many name suggestions for next season’s $10,000 to win Stock Car race over the last several weeks, we have decided to try and increase fan involvement,” said series director Shaun Hooks. “We have picked the five most popular names and will put them out on our Facebook page where viewers will be able to vote.”

Those names are The Steel Valley Pro Stock Nationals, The Rumble in Trumbull 75, The Penn Ohio Thunder at Sharon Speedway, Penn Ohio Pro Stock Clash on Clay, and Penn Ohio’s Dirt Domination 75.  There will be one vote permitted per Facebook fan.  The top three will receive general admission tickets and Penn Ohio shirts for the race event.  The winner will be upgraded to pit passes for the event.  One of the voters from the winning name will be randomly selected to receive 2 general admission tickets to the event.

Sharon Speedway promotor Dave Willoughby has also announced that Saturday, June 16th has been selected as the date for the inaugural event. “We will also have a practice night on Friday, June 15th. There has been so much interest in this race from both local and regional racers,” Willoughby said, “that we wanted to offer guys a chance to get a few laps in as well as get through pre-tech before race day.”

Hooks and Willoughby have agreed that the race will be 75 laps, with the first 50 laps counting green and yellow flag circuits. “We will only keep the cars pacing under yellow conditions for single car spins or other circumstances that can be quickly cleaned up,” related Willoughby. “Any events that require multiple laps for the track to be cleared will result in a red flag situation where the cars will be aligned and we will return to green as soon as possible,” Willoughby continued.

Entry forms will be available for this race on the Penn Ohio web page. The early entry discount will be $100.00 until March 1st of 2018.  The regular entry price will be $150.00 after March 1st and before June 1st.  All entries after that will increase to $200.00.
