Weather cooperating, I'm going to the grove next week. I needed to get away for a day and decided to try to head to Mechanicsburg for it. Anything I need to know as a first-timer at the Grove?
Any advice for a trip to Williams Grove?

My dad drove late models in the early 70's at North Hills, Butler, Mercer, Blanket Hill, and occasionally Tri City. We won the last late model track championship at Blanket Hill.

FanJim24. Here is what to expect, long straight aways , tight turns, fast cars and great racing. And friendly fans. Hope the weather is good and have a safe trip. Let us know how it went. One more thing the food is good.

Thanks. The weather's still a question, which is to be expected this time of year.
How early should I get there?

Then, go over and watch them come out of turn 2 and go down the back straight, under the bridge. Also, if you get a chance,go down 15 to York Springs to the museum. Not sure if it is open yet, but I think they open around the first of April. Lots of nostalgia in there.

Best seat in the house is on the back straightaway down past the bridge. The cars will be coming at you full speed down into the 3rd turn. Plus, you can cross the pedestrian bridge and get into the infield, but not the pits. Enjoy. As someone else said, the fans there are generally super friendly and they love to talk about racing.

Awesome suggestions everyone. You leave me with a dilemma, since I like to sit behind the flagstand or middle of the front straight away, (family tradition, and good overall view), but the back stretch sounds better.

I made to Williams Grove. It was interesting to get spitting distance from sprints at full speed. I wasn't impressed with the racing, but it was cold and wet, so not a good day to evaluate. Dave Blaney literally couldn't keep the wheels on the track, and that may be ther first time I've seen him race. I have played with Hotwheels with him, and Dale, back when we were the right age for that. Hodnett and Kahne showed but weren't impressive.
I called to check in with my kids, the next day and well, they liked me gone so much that they told me to stay another day. I went to Port Royal. I liked that facility a lot more, and the racing was better. Some of our W.PA guys showed up, and pretty much that's about all they did. A.J. was the only W.PA driver to go in the right direction. DeWease started on the front row, and not even the ASCoC guys got close enough to smell his exhaust. It was the limited lates and stocks that really did the racing.
If this was a normal type of week, then I figure Williams Grove to be a great place to be close to the cars, but not so much for seeing the race itself. I did tell my one daughter that she needs to make the trip at least once.

Carl Bowser dropped a couple spots at Port, but he was still a very strong 7th at the finish.
I guess I just had higher expectations.
