R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, OH, bested a field of 29 Super Late Models, coming from the 3rd starting spot, to win the Buckeye Speedweek Final Race last night at Portsmouth Raceway Park.  I go to Portsmouth at least once a year, very nice facility, but the Late Model feature didn't end until 11:30 and they still had three more features to run. I'm sure the program wasn't over until after 1:00 AM.  All the heats and B-Mains were completed by 10:05, and they promptly took a 30-minute intermission.  Having said that, the track was in very nice shape considering that it was 88 degrees and very humid, very little dust, and an outside groove.  Jared Miley, Michael Maresca and Ryan Montgomery were locals in the field.  Maresca was 3rd fast qualifier and won the 8 lap dash, putting him on the pole.  Jared qualified 7th, just missing the dash.  He started n 10th spot, worked his way up to 8th, then pitted for a flat tire.  Coming back out on the track, he again worked his way up to 6th spot by lap 23, pitting again for another flat.  He came back out and worked his way back up to 8th, and actually passed Maresca past the flag stand, and would have finished 7th had the race been one more lap.  It was thrilling watching him use the high groove at PRP, probably passed over 20 cars during the evening. Results as follows:

We have been to Portsmouth Raceway Park(PRP) twice this year and have not been disappointed.  As you said the track had very little dust last night and was multi grooved; there was three wide racing throughout the night in all divisions; definitely worth the four and a half hour drive from Western PA.  As you said the downside is that they normally take an intermission every week but if anyone is looking for some great racing action on a Saturday evening we would strongly suggest making a trip to PRP.
