Day One of the World of Outlaws World Finals Moved an Hour Earlier to Avoid Weather

CONCORD, NC — Oct. 31, 2018 — Due to potential showers and thunderstorms on Thursday evening — the first night of the World of Outlaws World Finals presented by Can-Am — World of Outlaws and Charlotte Motor Speedway officials have decided to move the race schedule up an hour in order to get the program in before any impending weather hits.

Grandstand Gates will now open at 3:30 PM. Drivers Meetings will begin at 3PM with the Super DIRTcar Series, 3:15PM for Late Models, and 3:30PM for Sprint Cars. The Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified will take the track at 3:45PM for non-timed Hot Laps, followed by timed Hot Laps for all divisions at 4PM. Opening Ceremonies will begin at 5PM.

Looking at the weather I doubt they will get much in today and Fridays a wash out with Saturday and Sunday looking ok.

I talked to Lee Ann while renewing for next year and she said last week because of rain they ran the whole double show on Sunday.  Unless your planning on driving back Sunday after the show you ought to get a hotel if you don't have one for Sunday.  The last time I was there on a rain out the hotel I was at was full for Sunday.

It's also the first weekend for the see below  just north of the track and  they grab up a lot of hotel rooms in the area.

Might be something to do if you want to walk around in the rain on Friday.

I went to that Renaissance in 2015
They do real jousting !!
The rest is a bunch of crafts and vendors Including
Richard Childress Wine Vinyard including a Dale Earnhardt race car
The rest was a craft show
But ya it was ok once
The jousting was very impressive!!

At least you walked away on your own, and that was good. That is more I can say for the car. Tiger Claw.

Got all in but group b of late model time trials for Saturday show. Which is 38 cars. Did both sets of big block heats for the 2 days. Both sets of time trials for the sprints. The time trials are done for Friday late model heats. Just have to complete 2nd group of time trials for late models prior to the start of Saturday show.

I think Max is there but no info from the WoO on time trials and they didn't get all the time trials/heats run for the Late Models. So not sure who all is there from our area in the Late Models.

GOOD RACING TO ALL!!!

Max Blair, Colton Flinner, Boom Briggs, and Michael Maresca are there. I think there are 76 lates there. Shane Clanton and Chris Ferguson led group A time trials. Blair timed 21st and Flinner was 27th in group A. Group B was led by Dale McDowel and Scott Bloomquist. Briggs timed 14th quickest and Maresca was 21st.

. Blair got punted in his heat by a #43 car. He made the show through the B Main. Boom Briggs also qualified through the B Main.
