What a bummer!...was looking forward to this one!
Mother Nature has been pretty good to us overall this year, so I guess we were due to lose an event. We needed rain, but not all at once!

How about clay wresting at 7!...just kidding!

Next up are the Steel Block Bandits versus PPMS Pro Lates plus regular racing. The next UFo show will be the Red Miley Rumble August 18...then the Pittsburgher, then we'll take a look at doing this cancelled event in the fall.

Hopefully Dog Hollow will get their show in tomorrow, need a racing fix!

Due to the heavy rains that were received on Thursday and Friday the racing action at Pittsburgh's Pennsylvania Motor Speedway has been cancelled for both Saturday, July 21st and Sunday, July 22nd.

"The speedway is water logged from the heavy rains we received the past two days. In addition, the overcast weather thus far today has not helped at all," commented Speedway Owner Matt Miley. "We don't want to jeopardize tearing up the track surface and decided it was in the best interest of everyone to cancel the racing for both today and tomorrow."

Anyone with advanced tickets for the July 21st event may use the tickets for the Red Miley Rumble to be held on Saturday, August 18th.

Next up at PPMS we present the "Steel City 30" as the Steel Block Bandits make their first ever appearance at the Monster Half Mile to challenge our Pro-Late competitors for the $1,200.00 to win first place prize money. The Super Lates, Late Model Sportsman, Hobby Stocks and Young Guns will also be in action.

The Super Late Model feature that was postponed from July 1st will kick off the racing action on Saturday, July 27th.

Pit Gates will open at 4:30PM with the Front Gate opening at 5:00PM. Racing action begins promptly at 7:00PM.

Fans are encouraged to sign up for free race day text messages to get the latest information on weather or traffic delays that may impact the racing action by clicking on the "Rained Out" logo on the speedway website, www.ppms.com.

Additional information is also available on the speedway website: www.ppms.com or by contacting the speedway office at (412) 279-RACE (7223). Race fans can follow Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway at www.twitter.com/PAMotorSpeedway and .https://www.facebook.com/#!/PittsburghsPennsylvaniaMotorSpeedway.

i'm not sure i totally agree with tonight's cancelation....and today's weather (being overcast all day) should not factor in...just totally frustrated right now, really looked forward to tonight i fully understand if there's water in the pits, but it's so big, the racers would work around it...they have done so in the past bummer....

The pits at PPMS when sloppy are impossible to deal with. I'm sure the sheer amount of water that part of Allegheny county got in rain yesterday that they're at their absolute worst and damn impassable. And if the track was opened up when the torrential rains came later in the day there is no way it would be raceable tonight. The surface, which is currently the best it has been in years would be chunking and rutting beyond belief and it would lead to all sorts of torn up equipment.

There was no way they were getting that track ready with the limited amount of equipment that they have. They opened up the track during the week which was a good idea, but the 3 inches of rain yesterday soaked in instead of running into the infield. They took the grader out on it but it was sinking, there was nothing they could do.

faster the track, normally the racing is one lane... might be a few occasions where this isnt true, but usually it happens like this.

Fans would rather watch cars go fast than slid on an ice rink smoking their tires.
