Championship Caliber car owner, Mike Lawrence, and Championship Caliber Race Car Driver, Rusty Schlenk, were set to make their debut together at Attica Raceway Park. But Mother Nature had other plans, and forced Promoter John Bores, and his fine Staff, to cancel the scheduled ALMS Series opener, after a couple strong thunderstorms blew through the Seneca County Speedplant. ""We got a couple good showers about 3:30 p.m. and decided to cancel before the fans and teams got underway to get here," said Attica Operations Director Rex LeJeune.
Mike "Sauce" Lawrence is a 6-Time Eldora LM Track Champ and 2-Time ALMS Series Champion now coupled with 2-Time Oakshade Raceway Track Champ, and 2006 ALMS Series Champ "The Jackson Assassin" Rusty Schlenk, will now make their first appearance together at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway, next Saturday night, April 19th.
The beauty of this "Champion joins Champion" union, is, each brings different strengths that compliment the New Team as a whole. Rusty brings an impressive 38 Feature Wins, coming at just about every short track the ALMS Series competes. Mike has unmatched statistics at Eldora, and and a pair of well maintained, Championship Caliber Race Cars. Mike's equipment and experience, with Rusty's obvious talent, and youth, would have to make the New Team a threat to win anywhere they unload in our Region.
While Lawrence Motorsports prepares the pair of Dargie Powered Rocket Chassis' at his Versalles, Ohio Shop, Rusty Schlenk Racing will continue to field their own Performance Machining Racing Engine prepared, Roger Markey assembled, Chevrolet Powered, Rayburn Chassis', in pursuit of Rusty's Ultimate Goal, the UMP National Championship!
Family, Friends, and Fans alike, are extremely excited about the combination of these two Great Race Teams coming together for a common goal.....WINNING!
