After a first week rainout at Waynesfield Motorsports Park, clear skies brought the racers to this Ohio clay oval on Saturday April 26th. Track owners Greg and Tammy Shobe were praised all night long for the excellent job done by the track prep crew. The racing surface was smooth, tacky, and super fast. Throughout the night the races were run in a very timely fashion. After the three classes of cars completed their heat race portion of the night, a 20 minute intermission was taken so that the track crew could put the finishing touch on the racing surface before the start of the feature events. The 600cc mini-sprints were the first of the three classes of cars to take to the track for their Amain feature. As the racing began it looked to be a battle for the win between newcomer #23 Devon Dobie and veteran #26 Rod Henning. These two cars quickly set a fast pace to lead the race. Henning was finally able to gain the lead away from Dobie and pulled out to a three car length advantage. With only a few laps left in this feature, Hennings motor erupted with a giant cloud of smoke. The veteran mini-sprint driver did an excellent job of quickly getting his smoking car to the inside of the track and out of the way of the rest of the cars. The restart left #18 Todd Keen with only a couple of laps left to try to get by leader Devon Dobie. In the end, the 15 year old Dobie proved too strong to handle and went on to win his 1st ever mini-sprint feature at Waynesfield Motorsports Park. The trucks were the next class of racers to run their Amain feature of the night. #4f Scott Fisher was able to hold the lead during most of the race as he ran the middle groove of the racing surface. #25g Gabe Twining kept trying to find his way past Fisher for the lead but didn't seem to find enough grip on the bottom of the track. As Twining pulled underneath Fisher with 2 laps to go, a yellow flag waved giving the the trucks two laps to fight it out for the win. When the race restarted, Fisher held the middle of the track with Twining looking to the bottom. As the drivers were coming towards the white flag, Twining found the grip he needed and shot under Fisher and into the lead. Gabe Twining climbed on top of his truck and held both arms overhead in victory. After 3 and a half years of truck racing. Twining finally earned his 1st truck win of his career. The winged 360 sprint cars were the final feature of the evening. #34 Luke Hall and #7c Mike Brecht started on the front row and led the 20 car field to the green flag. Brecht grabbed the lead early and Hall fell in line behind him. As the leaders began working their way through lapped traffic, Hall surged by Brecht and into the lead. His lead was short lived as a lapped car held him up and Brecht took the lead back. The race was stopped near the half way point when Tim Allison and Bob Gehr came together on the front straight with both cars flipping to a stop on the track. After the crash was cleaned up, Brecht and Hall resumed their battle for the point. On the last lap of race, Mike Miller worked his way past Hall and took one shot at Brecht for the lead. At the checkers Brecht proved why he is one of the best as he held off Miller for the exciting win. The final flag waved and the fans were on their way home by 9:45pm. Waynesfield Motorsports Park will continue the weekly Saturday Night racing program with Non-Wing Sprint Cars, Mini-Sprints, UMP Modifieds, and Trucks on May 3rd.

There were 24 winged 360's. Imagine the car count was down 3-5 guys after the rough night at Lima. Track was in awesome shape.

Greg & Cub has done a sweet job to the track. As long as Mother Nature stay on their side exspect it to be like that all year. It won't be from them not trying.

Also, what is Waynesfield paying to win for the 360s and non wing 410s?

$1000 to win for each of the (2) classes. The purse last year was $5700. And this year it is $6250. So the payout got better for the 5th to 12th place. Straight from the man himself (Greg Shobe).
