The track owners family is having a Shobe family reunion Saturday. Since many of the track workers are Shobes (like everyone in the concession stand and others) they are not racing so that they all can spend some family time together. One of the reasons Greg wanted to lease the track to a 3rd party is because "I want my kids to be kids instead of spending every weekend working at this track." Those are Gregs words. Not to mention the family has to spend some time thru the week mowing, cleaning, and other things. Not racing this week has nothing to do with rain. If we hadn't had all the rainouts this year, most of us wouldn't care that Greg decided to skip this week to spend some family time. Lets be truthful about this.....if your wife and children always come to the races with you, you better consider yourself lucky. Those few of us that actually want to see racing every week are the minority. I heard that Luker and Brecht both decided to take their families camping last weekend since there weren't any NRA shows they needed to run for points. My wife never complains and won't admit it but I'm sure that by August she must think "it sure would be nice for my husband to take me out to a nice dinner and a movie or something like my friends do on Saturday nights." If everyone loved racing and wanted to spend every weekend at the races like some of us on here do, the stands would always be full. When the schedule was being made out, Greg was probably still hoping to lease the track out or might possibly have been planning on having Cast Iron Junkie run things be himself the night he put TBA. Since Jeff's race never really got off the ground do to weather earlier in the year, Greg must have decided just to not run this week. I remember a few years ago when Greg had Jerry Lear helping him we didn't run the week of Greg's daughters wedding. I told Jerry that I would do anything to help him just so we could run that week without Greg or Tammy needing to be there. Jerry said "It is Gregs money and if it were all my property and money ect I probably wouldn't just turn it all over to somebody and hope everything went all right either." Now lets suppose that maybe we got almost no fans show up that night somebody else run everything. I don't have an extra few thousand $$ to bring to the track to cover the payout if the fans don't show up and I can't write checks from Gregs account either. So then what?? If you show up to race, you expect to be paid at the end of the night. If it were my business, I think it would be a whole lot easier to just take a week off than to risk the chance of something going wrong. Even just dealing with my photo sales booth, my family are the only people I trust to be handling my money and property because that way I will never have any doubts about if things were handled correctly and my money is just peanuts when compaired to what Greg has at stake. Just give the guy a break will ya??? Take your wife and kids to a movie or go to see the "kings" at Eldora this weekend. I hope to see you all back at Waynesfield next week. We can't control the weather but we can still enjoy this weekend with our families..........the same as the Shobes will.

Was not talking about weather. Was addressing TBA dates jumping the gun and showing races on those dates. Skinny Kenny makes great point in his post.

Cummon dorkboy.....you know I didn't have any free time at Phillips, I was always busy.....Playing Cards! Missed you at the Doty, were you there? Red was in his usual seat beside us and Jerry Kauffman came up and used an empty seat in our reserved section. I guess he bowls with Red. I took this as my vacation week so that I was sure to see WOO at Lima.
