Also on the card this week was the 600cc mini-sprints, UMP modifidies, and Waynesfield tuff trucks. Saturdays warm and sunny weather helped bring in the fans to see some great racing at the quarter mile dirt bull ring. The 600cc mini-sprints were the first class of racers to line up for their feature event at Waynesfield. Sam Ashworth and Devon Dobie have both gotten to the winners circle at Waynesfield this season and they set a super fast pace while running 1st and 2nd in the opening laps of the feature. A few laps into the race the leaders were battling each other as well as trying to work their way thru the lapped traffic. Ashworth jumped the rear wheel of a slower car and into the air he went. Dobie was right on Ashworth's bumper and Dobie's top wing was ripped off as he drove underneath the flipping car of Ashworth. This accident brought the race to a halt while Ashworth emerged from his broken car without injury. When the racing got back underway, Dobie was at the point but without his top wing. The youngster soon found out that the car couldn't stick to the bottom of the track without that wing. After taking the green flag, Dobie's car washed up the track in turn one and the field began to pass. From this point on it would be another Jared Horstman show at Waynesfield. Horstman soon got around Todd Keen and Becca Stiefel and began to pull away from the field. While Horstman was running away with the lead, Keen and Stiefel were trading positions nearly every lap. The long time friends and old go kart competetors put on a heck of a show for the fans to enjoy. As Horstman took the checkers, Stiefel would hold off her pal and Keen would finish 3rd. This was Becca's best finish of the year at Waynesfield Motorsports Park. Todd Keen and Garry Loney were the mini-sprint heat winners. The fans always see an exciting show when the winged 360 sprints take over Waynesfield. "Mr Excitement" Tim Allison has 2 wins at the field this year and they both came from his up against the wall style. Ron Blair was going to teach Allison that the bottom of the track was the shorter way around. For all 20 laps Blair worked the bottom with Allison chasing him on the top. Allison was able to pull along side Blair at one point while the leaders were working their way past lapped traffic. Blair stayed with his game plan and held a 6 car length advantage over Allison at the finish line. Kent Wolters had a solid run to finish 3rd. Luke Hall, Wolters, Mike Brecht, and Darren Long won the sprint car heat races. JR Stewart was the winner of the sprint B-main. The always fast UMP Modifieds again provided some of the best 3 wide racing of the night. Tuff Tony Anderson grabbed the lead at the wave of the green flag and looked to have this race in the bag. Behind Anderson the war was on. Mike Hohlbein, Eddie Shaner, Brian Post, and Jeff Babcock were racing 3 wide for the runner up spot most of the race. As that fight was on, Jon Henry worked his way up from the tail and joined the battle. Henry took some turns low and others high during his charge towards the front. With only a few laps till the finish, Tony Anderson made a mistake that cost him dearly. Anderson got sideways coming thru turn 4 and lost his momentum. He was able to regain control of his modified racer but Babcock and Henry shot past him. Babcock would hold the lead for the last couple of laps and score his 2nd mod victory at Waynesfield this year. Jon Henry finished 2nd with Anderson finishing 3rd. UMP Modified heat wins went to Matt Westfall, Brian Post, and Kevin Free. Lenny Guyton won the B-main. The Waynesfield Tuff Trucks would again be dominated my Mike "The Enforcer" Hicks. The truck class knows that if Hicks is running, he is hard to beat. Gabe Twining has notched a few wins this year and gave it all he had in an attempt to run down Hicks. Twining was able to pull even with Hicks at one point during the race but a yellow flag slowed the race and gave Hicks a chance to cool his tires and catch his breath. When the race restarted Hicks would roll easily to another win ahead of Twining and Jessica Nuss. Twining, Hicks, Scott Higbea, and Jerry Sawmiller won the Tuff Truck heat races and Wild Bill Harman won the truck B-main. The final racing event of the night was a powder puff truck race for the ladies. Tanna Crossley and Deb Laudick crossed the finish line side by side. I was standing right near the finish line and I'm glad it wasn't my job to pick the winner. The scorers determined that Crossley was the winner and Laudick was credited with 2nd. Joanne Poling followed the leaders to the finish in 3rd. Saturday August 30th will be the final race of this season at Waynesfield Motorsports Park. Non-wing 410 sprint cars, 600cc mini-sprints, UMP modifieds, and the Waynesfield Tuff Trucks will be there to finish out the season. Lets hope for good weather.

I have to admit, that was some awesome racing by everyone Saturday night.. The only thing I thought was uncalled for was after the hot laps, the altercation between Kent Wolters and Jim Dues.. I don't know who all seen it but after they pulled in, Kent Wolters got out of his car and went over and started laying into (hitting) Jim Dues while he was still in his car. I know tempers are flying if something happens but with young kids at the track and it being a family events, I thought that was pretty stupid of Kent Wolters.. Other than that, the night went pretty well.. Congrats to all the winners..

Great racing saturday night by all. Write up sounds good as always skinny. I would like to know how much Mike had to pay his cous for that perfectly timed caution???? The race is on youtube for any who want to see. I think if we stayed green I had a shot. At least I was fast enough to run down his air cleaner. hehe :P

Jim Dues is the same cry baby he was 12 years ago. that is why he does'nt race at Lima anymore. He deserved what he got for taking his agression out on drivers on the track after the race is over by ramming them in the rear and smashing in their fuel cell. I seen him do the same thing at Lima about 12 years ago. Due's could'nt drive a sharp stick up a dogs ---. Way to go Kent. Now maybe he will stop his on the track stupid attack's , But i doubt it.

Wrench,
Do you have a video of the episode, cause you seen something differnt than I did. If Jim was a cry baby he would have told Greg to send him home early like he had the option to. No Jim has some class and let him race. Just remember when you point a finger three are pointing back at you !!!!
