I know about your back trouble Weasel. My comment wasn't directed at any one certain person. It was just disappointing to only have 14 cars.
Just take care of yourself and do what the Dr say. I've suffered back pain since 1997 and I hope yours won't be lifelong like mine. On my bad days my wife or father won't even get near me because my pain makes everyone misrable.
So YOU can ignore my comments about the low car count....until you are back to good health. GOOD LUCK
i would just like to say stock car count is down everywhere,BUT i`m sick and tired of people on here whining and griping yet they don`t have a car, don`t sponsor a car and don`t have any vested interest in a car, all they have is an opinion, and Kenny, things have changed a whole lot since you drove.
Do you people have any idea what kind of money it takes to put one of these things together, let alone maintain one, try doing it on 700.00 sponsor money, doing 95% of the work yourself,95% of the money comes out of you own pocket, working a full time job on top of maintaining,or repairing the car,and to top it all off 7.00 a gallon for fuel, and you ask where are all the cars? i`m not complaining,it`s my choice to race but give people a break, there are alot of people out there that don`t have the money to race, and i for one,if it ever gets too far out of control will not race, i also will take a break,it`s more important for me to make my house payment, i can`t live in a race car.
I for one had every intention of being there saturday night but got tore up friday and couldn`t have the car fixed in time, maybe i`ll make it next time, i`m not trying to make any enemies but if you don`t drive,or wrench on one of these, and all you have is you`re opinion from the spectators view, maybe comments should be kept to yourself.

No offense, but I'd like to put my 2 cents in. I can't speak for Kenny, but as for myself, I do have a good idea what it takes you guys to put a stock car together, and personally, it's way out of hand. It sounds like you and the other guys like you who do it on a shoestring budget should address your concerns to the track owners and promoters. While I don't think a 'bomber' class is the answer, I do think they should reel in stock cars so A. more guys can afford to put one together, and B. and to close the gap between the haves and have nots. When you have to break your neck to repair a race car after busting your tail working 40+ hours all week to feed a family and pay the bills, I can only imagine how hard it is to want to drag the race car out to the track and essentially know that you're racing for 5th or 6th place. Just like the trucks, I'd love to see some more parity in the stock cars, but unfortunately I lack the mechanical knowledge to make a suggestion as to how to level the playing field. But all you guys and gals that have stock cars and tuff trucks know what can be done to make it cheaper and more even.
Let the powers that be know what you need to help them bring in more cars and better racing which equals more spectators.
P.S. those with the 'spectators view' pay the purse, and pay for the tracks to remain open. Their opinion is just as important as anyone's, even if it is just Kenny

What surprises me is that the mod class comtinues to grow. Lima puts on some big money shows for stocks and the count is a little low there to. Its just a class that is down right now. I know you will proably only see barney at WRP when eldora isnt running, because of his wife working at eldora. I think we all have to remember that things are really tuff out there right now for every one. Im surprised the counts arent even lower in all class,s.
I think part of the increase of the modified class comes from the fact that it doesn't cost a whole lot more to build a modified as compared to a stock car, while the payout is greater.

you better be careful the holy grail on this message board will be after you next for speaking on anything that goes against what they beleive, be prepared to get booted off stifI had the feeling after starting to read the posts on this topic that the mini sprints would come in and they did. i think people need to realize that the stocks were plan and simply cut out last year so the thought of add them year and they'll be back I think it's going to take more than that build the class. There are some classes that have strong turnouts but if you have watched for the most part they have dropped in numbers from the previous few years. You don't see the non-wing guys from indiana why because they aren't going to run for $700, that payout has gone from $1200 2 years ago to $1000 last year and now to $700. The price of fuel is going back up, just saw $2.65 today and that's not helping. We put the show together in Piqua for the past 6 years and this year I talked to alot of those that participated about how the economy is going to effect them. At that time fuel was down and many said they were cutting back and some said if there are chances of rain they weren't going to try to go with the chance of a rain out and money spent for nothing. Another thing that's effecting some people that attending the meetings the first of the year is they were told each night one class will be paid a bonus and it will be announced what class that will be at the drivers meeting and from what I have heard from those that I talked to that have been there so far this year, not the first big payout has been added. Attitude towards the drivers and crews means alot and if you think about what is the attitude at the drivers meeting by the track staff? If you treat those that support you the way you expect them to treat you then they'll be back, but yelling before things even get started ain't the answer. The first night the mini sprints raced they had a first time winner, I hear from spectators on the front stretch that when that driver pulled in to have Kenny take his picture a gentleman on a Mule pulled up and told him to get the car to the scales now and they could hear all of this loud and clear. What was the big deal to scale we asked to scale our car that night before the heat races to be sure we made weight and they told us they weren't working and that the cars would be rolled across them so it looks good. All in all I think there are alot of different things that are causing the car counts to drop and I just hope they don't take it out on one or two classes and say that's it your done. Thius Sat. I don't see a few classes with big turnouts do to the time of year like graduations and calls were made to Dean about this because it will effect car counts in classes like the mini sprints. Yes everything that I posted here was discussed with Dean so I have spoken to him but that's all I can do, the staff controls alot of their destiny.
