The fans were also treated to a complete racing program of UMP Modifieds, 600cc Mini Sprints, and Tuff Trucks. The weather was great, the dirt track was smooth, and the entire program was finished before 10:30pm. The feature event for the UMP Modified division was the 1st class to line up. As the flag waved to get the race underway, Jeff Babcock seemed to be shot from a cannon as he ripped into the lead position. Babcock has over 100 wins to his credit with his stock car and modified racers. Tonight that total would increase by one. He was able to lead the entire race from green to checkers. John Brooks and 2008 track champion Brian Post were engaged in a race long battle for the runner-up position. The race was slowed a couple of times because of a few different accidents but on every restart Babcock would immediately shoot out to an 8 to 10 carlength lead. Once up to speed, Brooks and Post would race each other hard and keep Babcock within a long reach. As Post worked the low side, Brooks preferred to use the top of the track. The top 3 cars seemed to run nearly the same speed. It was Babcock's advantage during the start and restarts that secured the win. At the finish, Brooks was 2nd and Post was 3rd. The UMP Modified heat winners were Zach Schroeder, Chad Rosenbeck, and Babcock. The 600cc winged mini-sprints had a 17 car field to race for their share of tonights purse. Rod Henning is a weekly competitor at Waynesfield with his mini-sprint. Henning has won a feature race in the past but that has been a few years ago. The young man's crew has recently made some changes to his car and that would help return him to victory lane tonight. Henning quickly made his way to the front and left the other mini-sprint drivers in his dust to fight for 2nd. He drove his way thru the lapped traffic like a professional and seemed to extend his lead as the race went on. Front row started Gary Loney was able to hold off last weeks winner Devon Dobie to finish in 2nd place. Henning and Loney claimed the heat race wins for the mini-sprints earlier in the night. So far this year the 4 cylinder tuff truck racing class has been dominated by the Twining family with Gabe winning once and brother Matt winning the other 4 races. Tonight would see a new winner step up to the occasion. This is Chris Hicks 2nd year of truck racing at Waynesfield and he spent last year in the shadows while his brother Mike dominated the class. The Hicks family would return to Waynesfield's victory lane tonight but it would be to celebrate younger brother Chris's career 1st feature win. Chris has steadily improved his driving and has now left his mark as a force to be dealt with in the truck class. The inversion draw put Tim Dick starting in the preferred front row spot and many of the fans thought this might be his 1st trip to victory lane. Dick seemed to struggle last season by destroying his truck mid year and then driving some one elses truck to finish out the year. Tim built a new truck over the winter and has been a front runner this season but has yet to get his 1st win. He would race into the lead at the drop of the green flag but Chris Hicks was on a mission. As the leader began to catch the slower trucks, Hicks had found his way to Dick's rear bumper and used the high side of the track to make the pass for the lead. Dick battled hard to stay at the front but tonight just wouldn't be his night. Hicks was able to slowly put a little distance between himself and the rest. 4th Row starter "Fat" Matt Twining worked his way thru the field and caught up to Tim Dick with just a few laps remaining. Twining was finally able to get around Dick into the runner-up spot but by this time Hicks had built a lead that could not be overcome. Hicks would get his 1st win ahead of Twining and Dick in a 20 lap race that went caution free throughout. All 22 truck racers did an excellent job driving to get these "entry level" trucks to run a non-stop caution free race. Jerry Butler, Hicks, and Twining recorded the heat wins for the trucks. The Michigan Traditional Sprint Series group would do battle with the Waynesfield regulars in non-wing sprint action to finish off the nights racing program. 31 Cars would show up to compete for their chance at the $1000. Matt Westfall lives in Ohio and regularly competes at Waynesfield. He was not about to let an outsider come in and take "his" money! Kyle Simon always runs well at Waynesfield and tonights inversion draw would start him on the pole of the feature event. Simon would grab the lead as the green flag waved and it began to look as thou Simon might get his 1st win of this season at Waynesfield. Matt Westfall had to start 8th and soon found out that the top side of the track was to his liking. Westfall had little trouble making his way to the front because he was running higher than anyone else on the track and had no one in his line to slow him down. Within 5 laps Westfall has driven around 6 other cars and was challenging Simon for the point. Westfall was in a league of his own as he easily cleared Simon and quickly pulled away from the rest of the field. Westfall would dominate the race and score his 2nd win of this year at Waynesfield. Kyle Simon would finish in 2nd but had his hands full holding off a hard charging Joss Maffet who started the race deep in the pack. The fans and racers were again impressed with rookie Todd Keen as he spent the majority of the race battling in the top 4 positions. Keen faded into the 8th position during the last few laps. Cub Burden had the most impressive drive of the night to finish 9th after winning the 1st B-main and starting the feature clear back in 17th spot. Brandon Ferguson was the winner of B-main #2. Sprint heat winners were Kyle "the kid" Conaway, Dustin Smith, Mike Dunlap, and Kyle Simon. The cars and stars of Waynesfield Motorsports Park will be in action on Saturday June 13th with the 360 Wing Sprints, UMP Modifieds, Tuff Trucks, and Stock Cars. The racing events start at 7:00pm on this quarter mile high banked dirt bullring. Were else can you see 4 different classes of racers and be entertained all night long for just $12 admission fee? Waynesfield keeps the show rolling and finishes most racing nights before 11:00pm. The "best kept secret in racing" is now out of the bag!! Check www.waynesfieldmotorsportspark.com for info and the new updated schedule. Bring some friends and check out Waynesfield Raceway.

Thanks, Kenny. I appreciate the heat results. I keep track of that each week, and since I couldn't be at the track this past weekend, it helps a bunch. Thanks

Actually I can't take credit for the complete results. That credit goes to Dean's daughter Stephanie. She is one heck of a dedicated worker. She was very sick with pnemoania(I'm sure that is spelled wrong) and went to the hospital on Saturday morning. They wanted to admit her for a couple of days but she refused because of the races. She got some breathing treatments and IVs to help her get thru the night. After the races she usually gives me a results sheet. She was really sick and told me she would just email the info sometime on Sunday after she spent the night back at the hospital. This made things alot easier for me because I just copied & pasted the info that she emailed me. We talked on the phone Sunday afternoon and she agreed to email the info to me every week from now on. She can type it all out in 10mins while it takes my one finger an hour. So STEPH gets the credit for that. Heck of a job especially considering she was really sick!!!

Kenny: If she needs any help with keeping points for the trucks, I've got all that on a spreadsheet and I figure them every weekend.

I guess we should say thank you Kenny and Stephanie. A job very well done. I like it when you add the car number. Makes it easy to say who was driving what numbered car.
