I own a bmw e46 and the freon leaked out (leaky old compressor seal). Now the display says the "compressor is off" and the unit will not take a charge. Is there a reset switch or something that needs to be reset to allow the system to take a charge. If I connect a can a freon to charge the system, nothing happens. Thanks for any advice.

If you did not fix the seal you are wasting your money on the refridgerant. If there is a leak in the A/C system, adding will not fix it. You may have to take it in to have the seal fixed then have a scan tool hooked up to reset the code. Get out your wallet...won't be cheap.
