last night was another great night of racing but i couldnt believe what i saw... i had a chance to watch the races from the pit side suites with a friend of mine that sponsors a sign at the track... during the sprint feature an older guy was cheering for rob chaney when he put the slide job on horstman and ron hammons started yelling at him and then pushed the older guy saying the he was cheering when jr was collected by the car spun?? just wonder how that work with limaland having a 0 tolerence policy for fighting??? not to mention already on probation by the NRA.. anyway i hope the older guy is ok!!
maybe he's still a lil touchy over the whole protest deal last week?? was also kinda odd to see the 6 car start so far back in the heat race 2 weeks in a row HUM???
great run by Horstman!! hang in there man... i hope you get a Lima win by the end of the season!!

i know you all own race cars to put on a show for the fans....do you ever think of the money put into it 4 your entertainment?... right or wrong ron jumped to what he thought was a person that was glad jr got caught in the spin....right ...NO....but he is also human and does he make mistakes... take his cars and drivers away? ,,,what do you have? he's done more for you as fans and track then you see!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! geno

EVERY race team owner has thought about that. Expensive addiction that we all LOVE!! Wasn't there, and have nothing in it, but i do KNOW that Hammons Motorsports is an admirable/respectable LOCAL team, with consistently fielded, top notch equipment, and almost exclusively, ONLY very accomplished, elite drivers!!!! I don't really know what the rest of this was about (and really don't care), but.............. That's (sometimes) short track sprint car ( or other divisions, TOO!) Racing! Again, As we ALWAYS SAY.... "Good Luck, ..... BE SAFE !, & HAVE FUN!" (THAT'S RACING!!!!) The WildWon Edited by injunear, 02 August 2009 - 11:23 AM.

seriously you guys need to get a life yea so what ron got a little touchy with someone cheering when someone else wrecks.
to be honest i was highly agitated when it happened and had the flag man paid any attention at all to the track he would have thrown the yellow a lot faster than he did which would have gave JR a lot more time to slow down and miss the wreck. as for people saying that all of a sudden the 6 car is starting towards the back in the heats maybe you had your eyes closed or were gettin more beer out of your cooler all season when JR has started his heat races he never starts towards the front he has always been in the middle of the pack

After reading everyone elses replys heres my opinion. Yes car owners will get fired up quickly due to the amount of TIME AND MONEY invested in there cars. UNDER any circumstances does it call for putting your hands on someone else though. One must hold hiself to a higher ground, specially big names. I will have to agree though Ron is only human and everyone makes mistakes. Have a good day.

FACT YOU HAVE NEVER PUT AS MUCH MONEY AS RON HAS INTO A SPRINT CAR until you do you cant judge ron for what he did cuz if its all your money out there and the same thing happens to your car you wont know how fired up you would get if someone is cheering for your misfortune. #11Posted 02 August 2009 - 04:01 PM
Here are some more FACTs for you witness23:
You do not know me. You also do not know how much money I may, or may not have, put into a sprint car/sprint cars. Nor does the amount of money spent have a damn thing to do with anything. According to you, any car owner is allowed to walk through the stands and shove anyone they see cheering...and just claim 'I thought they were cheering because something happened to my car'. That's BS, and anyone with a half way functioning brain should be smart enough to comprehend that.... Even if the guy was cheering for the 6s to crash, it still doesn't give Hammons the right to touch him. Don't believe me, ask any cop, deputy, patrolman, etc.!!! A guy cheers, Hammons shoves him- supposedly thinking- the guy is cheering because one of his cars has had a problem...Hammons is a saint, and apparently nobody else is allowed to cheer because it might offend Mr. Hammons because he willingly spends money on race cars. Please.............. Edited by Need for Speed, 02 August 2009 - 04:10 PM. #12Posted 02 August 2009 - 07:17 PM
im not saying its ok i already admitted that it was wrong (anyone with half a functioning brain can read) past that your acting like cheering for someone to wreck is a good thing. they both were wrong and i bet they both know they were wrong.
you want another fact jr would have won that race had that not happened or none of this would have even happened if the flagman (or people in the tower) had half a brain and thrown the caution when it happened. we all seen in the mods that as soon as babcock (and i like jeff so i aint saying nothing bad about him) but as soon as his car went sideways in his heat race they through the yellow he wasnt even all the way around yet but hey you know let gehr spin and dont throw the yellow until someone else is involved

I just wanna say a couple of things. I have spent most of my summer weekends at racetracks for at least 35 years so I can say that I have seen more races than alot of you(not all but still alot.) I saw the spin and then JR get caught up in it. However....nothing occured to me that the flagman was late throwing the yellow. I may be wrong but it seems to me that maybe some of you got excited about it because it envolved JR. I am not a big fan of the Lima flagman and there have been times when I would swear that he isn't allowed to throw a flag until somebody radioed him to throw it. I just did NOT see him make a mistake by being late during this situation. I may be wrong but I think some of you are over reacting.
I also believe that Ron Hammons is a very nice guy. He could very well have OVERREACTED and lost his cool on Friday night. He is human after all. Almost everyone that has raced for any length of time has been into some type of fight in the pits. I know I sure was. I haven't been in a fistfight for 10 years but I remember being close to fighting alot while I was racing. Emotions run high at the track. It is not like Ron is a bully that is always trying to start something every race. It shouldn't have happened. Ron knows that like we all do. He made a mistake. It isn't his 1st and won't be his last. I guarantee there have been times that some drunk ran his mouth at Ron and he walked away instead of busting the guy in the mouth. I have never read anything posted on here about how good a guy Ron is for not busting somebody that deserved it, but you want to badmouth him for the one time he overreacts during a bad deal. I'm sure he feels bad about the deal but hasn't everyone done something during a tense moment that they shouldn't have?? Now....if Ron starts shoving guys and getting into fights without reason during the next few months, He will lose alot of respect. But lets not throw him under the bus for 1 mistake during his many years of being an outstanding contributer to our sport.

What can you say Kenny, Ron has had the right combination going on for a few yrs and because some now think the way to break it down is verbal and laying claim that he is cheating in his motors. Ron has been tested for the last couple of weeks and if some would of had the same treatment they would proably react the same. Ron is a class act guy and will do any thing for any body. Thats proably why he wasnt at WRP last night he just had to get away from it for a night. Maybe thats how some think they can beat him is finding a way to drive him away. But Ron was still there last night by Jr showing up and still winning. Thats what wrong with this web site to many get on here under a screen name and want to trash people its to easy for them to do it. Every one on here knows who Ron was when he shoved the guy he is not hiding from any one. But those who want to trash him are hiding behind a screen name and are lower than him by doing so. I will bet money that Ron will proably end up going up to the man and say he is sorry for taking it the wrong way,But lets see how many trashing him will tell Ron to his face how they feel.

witness23: I never said it was OK to cheer when somebody crashes...that's pretty sick actually! I'm saying you can't go around pushing people because you -think- they are cheering because a car you own got caught up in a spin, and is now out.
Everybody has made wrong decisions. But has everybody else had people getting on the internet defending them, and acting like the wrong decision is no big deal because of how much money the person spends? The whole blow up over Hammons motors was one of the many times that multiple people jumped on the defense bandwagon. It's racing...people push the rules ALL THE TIME. If the motors are legal, who cares if they get torn down...it just lets you make sure everything is OK inside, put a fresh set of gaskets in 'em, and go. Bitching and complaining because somebody protested, makes it look you don't want people to see inside them....you make yourself look guilty. I'm not saying Hammons, or anybody else, is/was cheating. But the way that thread developed was just nuts. #17Posted 03 August 2009 - 08:49 AM
Just my two cents. Bad decisions have concequences. Regardless if it was a mistake it was still wrong and he should have to own up to it and face the concequesnce. Also it shows the character of the guy. People cheer against drivers all of the time, thats racing. I have never in all of my years seen an owner push a fan. Fights happen between crews, owners and drivers, but a fan. This man payed for his ticket and has every right to cheer for or against whoever he wants. If Ron cannot keep his cool up there than maybe he should stay home. This, in my opinion was completly uncalled for. He is an adult, not a child. If he wants people to see him as a good man and an elite owner than he should carry himself in that way. I lost total respect for the man. You can't go around pushing fans because your car wrecked. I understand that people make wrong decisions but when you do, you should have concequences. If he was on probation then this should have sent it over the edge. Regardless of what he has done for the sport or how many cars he brings. The fact is, he broke the rules, and now he should have to face the concequences. Regardless of what everyone on here says that is a fact. If another owner goes down and punches Ron in the face, he would have to face the concequences. SAME SCENRIO
