I have stated that it would be nice to see the stock cars back. The problem is not many stock cars showed up when WRP was running them. I enjoy watching stock cars very much, and do hope to see them back . I believe WRP is going with classes that have the #'s to support them selves. Keep in mind when comparing all the classes car counts that the Compact class has no cash payout that I know of, Im told they race for free passes. And they do a fine job! So they dont cost WRP anything when it comes to the payout window. I wish all the classes the best and hope the track is as well preped for this weekend as it was last weekend. All classes seemed to be a little faster.

I'm sorry if this sounds rude, but.....DUH! Of course it's about money in Dean's pocket. No one runs a racetrack to lose money.

Think about this for a moment.......if you would spend the same amount of time getting the stock cars to show up and race, as you spend complaining that they aren't running anymore......this topic would not have been posted because they would have stayed on the schedule.
He could have just kept running them and only payed them half of the normal pay since only half of the cars that should have ran showed up. Would that be a better way to do it??

;) Mr Skinny Kenny, Just one short question???? Was there a number of cars that WRP knew that would return and they all did not return as expected. I have been there in the past and this year to watch races when the stock cars were there the counts looked about the same over the last few years. What people in the stock cars or what teams was expected to be there that never showed up. I have been to Eldora, Limaland, Oakshade, Attica, Freemont this year and they all have there good nights and bad nights with car counts. Yes WMP for some reason suffers with there car counts in all classes maybe not the sprints as much. Just an idea switch the pay from the trucks to the stock cars and stock cars to the trucks and see if you can get more trucks built and showing up to race. More money on the head for trucks and less for the cars. Based on car counts and truck counts this just might work. What team or teams was expected to run WRP this year that never showed up. Please answer if you know car numbers would work for me. Thanks

Sorry, that wouldn`t work.
I for one wouldn`t put my car on the track for $200.00, and i don`t think any other stock car driver would either.
Most people have two or three times the ammount of money in a car vs a truck and you want me(us)to race for half the money, that would be a good way to NEVER have stocks again.

What do you think most stock car guys are doing now? Only one guy can win the $400, which leaves everyone else racing for $225 and less. I've been saying for years that the stock cars are way out of control since the first time I heard a guy thank Marshall Campbell for a great motor in "Bomber" victory lane at Limaland. It has only spiraled out of control from there. When you have $15000+ in a car that you race for less than $500 to win, it just doesn't add up. These cars stopped being "stock" and have become limited late models. It happens every 15-20 years or so where a new "bomber" class starts and things cycle back through. Around 2025, we'll all be complaining about the Thundertrux, or whatever they'll be called by then.
Who's fault is it? Is it the tracks' fault for not doing more to keep the cars inexpensive? Or is it their fault for not wanting "junk" on their track? Or is it the drivers/owners fault for pushing the envelope and seeing what they can get away with?
Either way, the 'stock car' as we know it is dying a slow death, and unless someone steps up and does something about it, you'd be wise to either buy yourself a modified or go find yourself an S-10, Ranger, or some other little 4cyl pickup and get ready for the future.

Just my 2 cents
Rod

I'm not going to call out anyone in perticular. But 15 or 16 cars showing up at Waynesfield is not enough to expect to continue running for full pay. Eldora stock counts have been 28, 33, 28, & 27. Lima has gotten over 20 cars 4 times this season. Last year the stocks were not put on Waynesfields schedule and this board was filled with "crying" from those guys. This year they were put back on the schedule and we still didn't get a full field to start a feature. You just can't expect any track to pay out the highest paying spots and not be making $$ from the other positions. (like 12th place on back) If a high school only has 9 football players go out for the team...they just cancel their schedule that year. They don't expect to fill the stadium with fans each week if they can't get enough players for a full team. It isn't rocket science.

;) Ok 15 cars each bring 4 people give or take some bring more some bring less. 15 X 4 = 60 x 25.00 = $1500.00 Pay out goes what?? 1st $400 2nd $150 3rd $125 4th $100 5th $90 6th $80 7th $70 8th $60 9th $50 10th back gets $40 if this pay out is close that would be around $1,365.00 which would tell me that the stock cars should be pulling there weight. That is before they buy a hotdog, pop, or anything from the snack shack. I would say that not great but I who am I to say its not my pocket. @ least there would be more people in the stands and the pits. I bet limaland car count in the stocks are just above 20 and its $2,000.00 to win tonight. So i would stick my neck out and says it's not what WMP is doing its just people don't go there.

well justnotafan I can say that your right on the first two spots of pay. The last time Brad Conover ran there he finished 2nd behind Jeffery and got $150.00. You can't blame any team that has there cars still in the trailer this year. I would like to see Kevin and Brad both back out and running. I stoped over to there shop about a month ago and they are just sitting there ready to run and these cars are able to win races why are they sitting???????

Pay out goes what??
1st $400

3rd $125
4th $100
5th $90
6th $80
7th $70
8th $60

10th back gets $40

It looks good on paper, don't it? If it was working out that way, don't you think Dean would still have the stocks there? When they were running the stocks the grandstands weren't any fuller than what they are now.

If you ask me, this past week has been the most buzz I've seen generated by the 'field this year, and I really hope that it translates into more fans. The racing has been great, but not enough people are there to see it. Hell, even the compacts put on a pretty darn good show last week. So lets quit worrying about what you think they're doin wrong, and lets get buddies to come with us to the track and show them what WRP is doing right. I got 2 co-workers coming with me Saturday, how about you?

B)

Like Rod said.......

Unless something changes at the last minute, I'll be rolling in with almost 30 people who have never been to the races, or have only been a few times in their life.

That's all good that you have it figured out that they will make money with 15 cars, but there's been weeks that there haven't been 15 cars there. I'm sure that Dean was losing money on the stocks on them weeks. I going out on a limb here but I bet he has lost more money on the stock cars this year than he has made from them. If he has lost money on them this year it only makes sense to cut them. No business survives when they are losing money. I do like seeing the stock cars out there, but these guys don't seem to travel much. Some are at Limalnad every week, some are at the few Eldora shows, but only a few of them run at Limaland, Eldora, and Waynesfield. I'm not blaming the drivers, some of them might not be able to afford to race all the tracks. Lets be real these guys aren't making money doing this. It's a really fun hobby. There's really no one to blame here. It's just the way things work out.
