There are some people that used to be regulars at WRP that either are racing elsewhere or have been sitting it out. Where does Tony Anderson run his mod now? Why doesn't Kyle Conoway race his cars anymore? Where does the Holes race their mod at now? There used to be a guy with the last name Duty that ran mods.....where is he at now? Does Lenny Guyton still race his mod? There is an entire list of mini sprint guys that aren't racing.....Detwiler, Helmlinger (he won the 1st race then where has he been?). Where has Aaron Meyers been? They started the year out with two trucks. Where has Philpot (not sure on spelling but the #20 truck) been with their truck? I know they flipped earlier in the season but they were strating to get the hang of it. I'm sure I'm missing some people. i know times are tough and maybe they've all been limited on funds or maybe they have some other issues. Would love to see each and everyone of them racing at the field again!!

Well, if you really want to know, Tim Cornett doesn't drive stock anymore not that it makes a difference at WMP. He's in a mod now, and like lots of other drivers 33 Gantt,82 Sherman, 112 Ullery,35 Cornett,22t Anderson(got screwed on his advertisements), they are all going to Montpelier. They have a guaranteed purse in all classes. And they don't change the schedule every other day. Weazel, was racing there just the other night, and Sutters, mod and stock.

Yea, I know Tim has a mod now and has been racing at Montpelier. I wasn't asking for any harsh remarks regarding WRP (not WMP as you put it), I was just asking where these guys are at now.

Since you brought it up.......we've changed the schedule very little for the mods and the purse has stayed the same all year. We are closer to home for every driver that you mentioned except for Sherman. We charge the same amont to get in that Montpelier does. We have higher car counts than Montpelier. So......with all that being said, what would it take to win you guys back to WRP? I would love to see everyone on my list and your list come back to WRP. I understand your concern regarding the stocks, but the schedule has been very favorable for the mods, trucks and sprints. We value each and every one of you and would love to see all of you return to WRP.

PS...this tread wasn't intended to talk about how good/bad WRP is, it was intended to see where these guys are racing or not racing now.

that's funny, I've been watching Ullery and Sutter at Waynesfield almost every show that mods have been ran. He asked about the Phlipot that runs truck...Jamie, I think, Detwiler, Helmlinger, and others, but the only one he asked about that you even mentioned is Anderson. I'd like to hear how Tony has gotten screwed on his advertisement? I see the sign and hear jerry announce TNT Automotive every week when he goes through the sponsors. Doc, I usually enjoy your rants, but this time I think you need to suck it up, pull on your big boy britches and get over it. Dan asked about some certain drivers and you decided to invoke your personal agenda against WRP. I'm as big of a stock car guy as anyone, but I'm not interested in watching only 12 of them race at any track. Waynesfield's a hell of a little track and I for one am lookin forward to some great racing over the coming weeks, and getting back at it next spring.

:( Unfortunately, Looks like we're done for the rest of this season. Boy, it sure was one of those years we'd rather forget!!!!!!!!!! One problem after another and pretty much out of money. We had a great time with everyone and enjoyed the GREAT track that WRP provided for us this year (Thanks to all the staff who put in their time) Good luck to all (especially the Trucks ;) ) #26 JD&D Racing

i can only speak for myself and the other drivers that i have spoken with but we race at waynesfield every time we are scheduled. the problem we are finding is that there is such a big gap between races that some teams are going to other tracks where they can race every week. then if they do well there, they get to chacing points at that track and wont return to waynesfield for a once a month show.

If you really want to get cars at Waynesfield, race on Sunday Nights. Saturday night is just too crowded in this area, not only in terms of competition for cars, but also for fans. Butler, Oakshade, Montpelier, Waynesfield, Fremont, and on many weekends Eldora. That's 6 tracks within 100 miles of Lima, all competing for the same cars and crowd. Compare that to Sunday. The nearest track is Kokomo, which is over 2 hours away. By the way, Waynesfield does not have higher car counts than Montpelier, at least in the modified division. I wish Waynesfield would do very well, but I don't see it working on Saturday Nights.

I'll split hairs with ya:

This is the last 4 races that WRP and Mont ran modifieds on the same night

8/8 - Waynesfield 22 cars, Mont - 25 cars; 8/1 - WRP 22 cars, Mont 18 cars; 6/27 - WRP 16 cars, Mont 18 cars; 6/6 WRP 18 cars, Mont 8 cars

Average car count at WRP for those 4 shows - 19.5
Average car count at Montpelier - 17.25

Montpelier had 1 bad car count that pulled the average down. Figure the average for the entire year. One positive trend is that car counts went up at both tracks from 6/6 to 8/8. Car counts of 27, 33, and 30 at Montpelier have been really nice in recent weeks, especially considering that Lima raced Saturday and Montpelier still had 30. I think Waynesfield could have the same if they raced Sundays. Cooperation is always better than competition when you are competing for the entertainment dollar.

The only way I even knew they raced at Montpelier was because I saw a photo of Tony Anderson's win there in last weeks Mid American. It was just kinda thrown on a page that had results/stories about other tracks. No other pics, no results, no story, no adds. I have today's issue in my hand......nothing. Why would a driver go race at a track that doesn't want anybody to know who won? Waynesfield isn't running Saturday so I can visit another track. It won't be Montpelier....I can't find an add to see what they are running or start time or anything. I don't even know where the place is at.

Mod13....point well taken. I understand looking at it from that standpoint. Hoosier.....I also understand that other tracks in this area run on the same night. Out of all those tracks that you mentioned the one that probably hurts us the most is Oakshade. I don't think Fremont hurts us that much since they run totally different classes and are further away. I don't think Montpelier hurts us that bad either for the simple fact they have a completly different configuration of program and track. Don't get me wrong, I used to love racing at Montpelier when I ran stocks because it was a drivers track (flat). I could see Oakshade being the biggest factor on us. Waynesfield has a bunch of potential to be a well known track. I think the remote location might hurt a little. This season we can't put much into the schedule of events because Dean was testign the waters by maiking a really diverse schedule to see what works in this area the best. I think he knows what he wants to do next season now and we can focus on those classes and make some nice shows for them. It will also give Dean a chance to be a promoter again and add things to shows that will draw people in. This season he's been soooooo busy trying to tweek things and find the right mix for the area. Next season look for him to hit the ground running. Between Dean and Jane they will make this work well. Let's not forget about who made this all possible also.......the wonderful Greg Shobe. He had a vision of a racing facility and now it's starting to gain momentum. Greg Shobe is also one of the hardest working guys that you'll ever meet and very nice to talk to! WRP will succeed and be a track that people look forward to coming to.......we'll give every effort in making that happen!

ram, I don't have an agenda on Waynesfield. I loved the track. Tim did too. It's just that we got the bad end of the deal. As did a lot of others that liked WMP. The guaranteed purse at Montpelier is a +. It doesn't matter if there are only 15 stocks, the pay-off is still the same. Not cut down because of low counts. That's just good buisness. It brings people back to race. They have a payout list on the website. They are consistant in the schedule. Not eratic. People can plan to go because they can count on what the schedule says.

from what ive heard, its a nice track. Sherman, Anderson, Banks, Sutter, Leudeke, Rosenbeck, Gantt, Scott Bowersock, Hole, Cornett, Tarlton, Reagle, Ordway, Richard, Keeler, and a few others have ran there this year.

Conaway dont want to run much the rest of the year. His frame got twisted at the Hewitt. He is running next year though.

Way to go bucko. Im sure the folks at WRP love seeing your glowing praise for Montpelier, along with their websites posted in the WAYNESFIELD section of racestud. Dock, sorry to hear that you feel that way, but as a fan, I have no problem with them cutting a class that brings 10 or 12 cars a week. Why would they pay a full purse for a short field of cars. You guys knew it was coming. I heard Dean telling the dirvers in the drivers meeting that the car count was pathetic. When did you finally get your car count up? The week the decision was already made to remove you from the schedule. Then you guys bashed the hell outta dean and all of wrp after the speedweek show where you were moved back behind one event because of track conditions, but you made it sound like they made you guys wait until 5am to race like Earl would have done at Eldora years ago.

Jamie Phlipot has been laid off the entire race season and cant afford to put the truck back together right now ... little by little we're workin on it ... he will be back out for the next season ..... i have a mini that i've had out once this year ... we have had a lot of trouble with the breaks this year and have been workin on it ... we hope to get out once more this season

www.montpeliermotorspeedway.com is the official track website. It has the weekly schedule, class rules, contact information, and weekly results dating back several seasons. The track address is right on the main page so you can mapquest or google maps that to find it. I don't know how the picture can be drawn any more clearly for you, but it may be hard to see without taking your head out of the Waynesfield sand. Do some research before you start bashing another track. The place isn't perfect with its promotion and neither is Waynesfield, but what benefit is it to run either track in the ground? Like I said earlier, I hope Waynesfield does very well. I believe the key to doing that is to go to Sunday nights.

Montpelier did not drop the street stock class, they just dropped the UMP sanction. They actually added more cars by opening up the class to Lima/Eldora Stocks. Ervin Turner is a UMP street stock and he won last weekend. Tony Anderson is an Eldora/Lima car and he won the previous weekend. There has been some excellent competition between the UMP cars and the Eldora/Lima cars. When it was UMP sanctioned they were averaging 6-10 cars. After they dropped the sanction it has gone up to 10-15 cars. The most important thing is the purse is guaranteed no matter how many cars. Even when they had 6 the guarantee was paid.
