Lol
how is dean suppose to run wrp and millstream on sundays? lol why dont mont. go to sundays?

Because Montpelier has been racing Saturday nights since 1987, and it is much closer to another Sunday track (Kokomo). Waynesfield doesn't have to do anything. Stay on Saturday nights, but the market is much tougher. The whole topic started with somoene asking where some of the racers have gone. If they are racing at another track on Saturday, then race on Sunday.

Montpelier did not drop the street stock class, they just dropped the UMP sanction. They actually added more cars by opening up the class to Lima/Eldora Stocks. Ervin Turner is a UMP street stock and he won last weekend. Tony Anderson is an Eldora/Lima car and he won the previous weekend. There has been some excellent competition between the UMP cars and the Eldora/Lima cars. When it was UMP sanctioned they were averaging 6-10 cars. After they dropped the sanction it has gone up to 10-15 cars. The most important thing is the purse is guaranteed no matter how many cars. Even when they had 6 the guarantee was paid.

You don't really believe that do you? They dropped the UMP sanction at the same time Waynesfield removed stocks from the schedule. THAT boosted the car count, not the sanction removal. Don't get me wrong, I love the stock cars, but Im afraid they're a dying breed.

As far as the modifieds, it appears to me that the 'field is doing their best to avoid running them against Eldora, which makes sense, but the last 2 shows have seen Terry Hull as well as a couple others who havent been regulars at WRP. I hope this is a sign of things to come as the mods put on a heck of a show on Waynesfield, and I think they'd make for a great weekly or bi-weekly class.

Mod13....point well taken. I understand looking at it from that standpoint.

Hoosier.....I also understand that other tracks in this area run on the same night. Out of all those tracks that you mentioned the one that probably hurts us the most is Oakshade. I don't think Fremont hurts us that much since they run totally different classes and are further away. I don't think Montpelier hurts us that bad either for the simple fact they have a completly different configuration of program and track. Don't get me wrong, I used to love racing at Montpelier when I ran stocks because it was a drivers track (flat). I could see Oakshade being the biggest factor on us.

Waynesfield has a bunch of potential to be a well known track. I think the remote location might hurt a little. This season we can't put much into the schedule of events because Dean was testign the waters by maiking a really diverse schedule to see what works in this area the best. I think he knows what he wants to do next season now and we can focus on those classes and make some nice shows for them. It will also give Dean a chance to be a promoter again and add things to shows that will draw people in. This season he's been soooooo busy trying to tweek things and find the right mix for the area. Next season look for him to hit the ground running. Between Dean and Jane they will make this work well.

Let's not forget about who made this all possible also.......the wonderful Greg Shobe. He had a vision of a racing facility and now it's starting to gain momentum. Greg Shobe is also one of the hardest working guys that you'll ever meet and very nice to talk to!

WRP will succeed and be a track that people look forward to coming to.......we'll give every effort in making that happen!

The funny thing to see is Greg is still out at the track every once in a while still helping out in any way he can. there is a guy who cares and a class act.

Waynesfield isn't running Saturday so I can visit another track. It won't be Montpelier....I can't find an add to see what they are running or start time or anything. I don't even know where the place is at. So What is your Point Skinny???? You WON'T be at any OTHER track Sat. unless your gonna be at Attica , but since your umbilical cord is still attached to Waynesfield , I'm sure you'll be there taking pictures of trucks ripping out each others rearends  If you want others to RESPECT Waynesfield , Then YOU need to RESPECT others

Why attack Kenny? or better yet, What does Kenny not knowing where Montpelier is have to do with respecting Waynesfield? Don't those of us who put our heart and soul into trying to make WRP a great race track deserve the right to defend it? I have nothing against Montpelier, as I've never been there, but when someone says that weneed to change nights because they've been open longer....well, let's just say I have no respect for that. WRP has come along way this summer after a rocky start, and I for one am proud to be part of it.

The Labor Day truck fest is gonna be a cool deal. It sounds like you're into rear ends, and there will plenty of those to go around this Saturday. I had never been to a truck pull until early this summer at WRP, and I though it was pretty fun. Now with the addition of Sled pulls and drag races, it ought to be a blast. What I'm trying to say is don't knock it til you try it.

At any rate, have a fun and safe Labor Day weekend WHEREVER you decide to spend it.

Dan asked where some of the former WRP regulars had been running, and somehow it has turned into a Montpeiler fan thread  This is the WRP board, but yet the Montpeiler web site and facebook site have gotten plugs  Many times I have seen the purse based on car count. How can you expect a promoter to lock in for the purse, and have 10 cars show up? That's not very smart business............... Hell, the costs for my son's Senior Class trip is dependant on how many kids are going. The more that go, the less it costs to go. Same basic idea, in reverse. A promoter is there to make money, if you help them do that, they will invite you back and will throw some more money your way. If they don't make money on your class, they will find a class that does make money. It's a business folks, plain and simple.

Great. You're bitter. We get the picture. What does that have to do with the handful of guys that were asked about at the beginning of this thread? Maybe since you seem to think you have all the right answers for WRP, you should call Dean and offer to split the cost of promoting the track. Then when you don't make adjustments to the schedule when a class of car isn't showing up, yet you still pay them their full purse, and you find yourself bankrupt, let me know just how bitter you are then. Until you're the one calling the shots, shut the hell up and enjoy the races like the rest of us.

Well anyway, I was just trying to find out where some of our former racer were racng and it turned into this. At any rate to those of you that I mentioned on my opening question and thse that I missed, we hope that things are going well for you and good luck, we would love to see you back someday real soon. As for the mention of WRP needing to switch to another day..........not going to happen! We are proud of what we built and we'll continue to buid it. We WILL have a set scheduel next season! AS for the guaranteed purse, we've paid what we said we were going to pay all season.....never did we short change a class because they only had 10-14 show up..........but that might have to change......business decision!!!!!! Thanks to everyone that has supported us during our transition process this season. We appreciate each and every one of you!

i race a mini and planned on running all the races @ waynesfield this year. since the beginning of the season i've been told they would be cut next year but that didn't matter until someone decided to change the schedule every week or so. also it seemed they were quick to call a rain out. I raced there twice this year and did o.k. once and terrible the other but it's a great track. i was going to come for the last race untill i saw the press release talking about cutting the purse. i dont think that info had any place in the article. that should be between the track and drivers. putting it in the press release seems like someone is trying to publicly scold the drivers. well it worked, i wont be there. i know i'm not one of the big time drivers asked about in the topic starter, but i feel many disrespectful things have been done to the racers in all classes and i'm certain i'm not the only one with this opinion.

I thought the mini got cut (just like the stocks) before the races even started and dean had meetings with both classes and u guys talked him in to running both classes. so he tried and it was up to all the drivers to make ur class work, so its not wrp fault u guys couldnt make the classes work. wrp tried and couldnt lose no more money on ur classes.. enough said.. so on that note if u take advantage of the races u guys have left and gat cars there u might have better chances on running at wrp more... expecially next year.... jmo... im not associated with no one, just a fan in the stands... p.s. as soon as i seen orge post this topic i knew it was going to get ugly.......

I can't find where I said Waynesfield MUST go to Sunday nights. I made a suggestion, and listed all of the tracks that already operate on Saturday nights (all of which were doing so long before Waynesfield was in existence). Stick with Saturday nights and maybe it will work out in the long run. All I was trying to say was that competing for cars and fans with other tracks might be a factor in low car counts and even lower fan support. I guess I don't see the logic behind having a problem and your solution is to continue doing the same thing. Nothing is going to change. Saturday nights could work out great, but you have to offer something that the other tracks are not running that will make people want to come to Waynesfield.

I thought wrp offered alot more than other tracks do, as in 4cyl tuff trucks, compacts, non wings, mini's, and everyone that is there is treated equally...... montpilier has been the same ole place for alot of years.... different owner's and promotor's? I like both places, been going to wrp since it has opened and have always made it mont. atleast twice a year. love ur guys outlaw derby.... but since dean is promoting wrp on sat. and now millstream on a few sundays. i just dont see wrp going to sunday's. so my suggestion is why dont mont. go to sunday's and increase thier car count and fan base?

Kokomo races on Sunday Nights. Kokomo and Montpelier are closer to each other than Waynesfield and Millstream. Millstream is just a few Sunday's, so why not take the night off at Waynesfield on those 3 or 4 nights a year that he wants to run a special at Millstream. It makes even more sense because he promotes both tracks and can make the schedule to be sure that the tracks complement each other. I would honestly have no problem with Montpelier racing Sundays, but Kokomo has been racing Sundays since the 1960's.

In this area, you have one track for each night of the weekend. Gas City Friday, Montpelier Saturday, Kokomo Sunday. Its been that way for years and works very well. In your area of Ohio, it would seem to make sense to have Lima Friday, Oakshade/Eldora Specials Saturday, and Waynesfield Sunday. Just my opinion.

If you are talking about modifieds, Kokomo does not race modifieds weekly. Those guys you are probably talking about (Sherman, Hull, Orr) race at Lima on Friday nights. Montpelier races Saturday and you will find Sherman there every week. Can't speak for Hull because I don't know. Orr doesn't race at Montpelier because he was barred for fighting at the Halloween race last year. At least I think he is, but you'd have to ask him to know for sure. He dominates Gas City, but has never had much luck at Montpelier.

Ok...can we just drop this comparison conversation about WRP and Montpelier. Good luck to Montpelier and we'll be just fine at WRP. I hope many racers will consider what we're going to do next season as something similar to what you would see at Oakshade. I don't mean what tyoes of classes they run, I mean the stability and knwing we'll be there. We're already going to run longer into the fall than anyone else around and I hope some appreciate that. We love all of our racers and hope to see each and every one of you backe every week. Tonights show was a testimate of that as we had an awesome show!!!!!
