I think Brandon should have been black flagged, or told on his 1 way radio to pull in.....maybe he was told over the radio, and just ignored it? Maybe he thought he could hold on and transfer to the A?

However you look at it, the fact remains, Brandon has been driving sprinters long enough to know damn well he had a flat RR. He wiggled the car around a couple of times during the yellow, he had to have felt that the rear end was spongy and wallowing around.....plus he can see the LR to see it was up, and had to have felt the car leaning to the right. When he stepped on it to take the green, he had to have really known something was wrong.

Did the flagman, or the people in the tower force him run 3 laps with the flat? No. He is the one piloting the thing........

Bottom Line... the TRACK OFFICIALS have to be in control of each race, NOT the DRIVERS!
Case in point (if you want to disagree) ... let the drivers be in control and have a caution ...watch them position THEMSELVES for a re-start ... you'll have drivers side-by-side for 100 laps...
Also, it was NEVER broadcast over the raceceivers that the lead car had a flat ... period.
And, believe it or not, when you are strapped in one (a sprint car), you can't usually pinpoint a problem ... Brandon knew something was wrong, yet most likely didn't know it was a flat RR ... and he was leading ... he wasn't gonna give that away without being told ...
Once again, thankfully there was not a disaster ... this time ...

I feel wrp has a pretty good safety team.

Everyone around me in the grandstands was saying, I can't believe there going to throw the green even the announcer said something about the flat tire before they threw the green flag. this isn't a case of not sure whats wrong, it was very visible to everyone " safety safety safety"

Chris,

I understand what you are trying to say. I also think they should have Black Flagged Brandon. BUT, it isn't like his car was leaking fuel, etc....something he couldn't see OR feel on his own, from the seat.

And yes, I understand that he probably couldn't "pinpoint" what was wrong....HOWEVER, Brandon 'should' have been able to tell the car was leaning to the right, was sloppy in the rear, didn't take off right, didn't turn worth a damn, and wouldn't come off of the corner wortha crap.

Now then, it's either a flat RR, a broken torsion arm or stop, broken radius rod/rods, or a broken Jacobs ladder. He took the green and continues to attempt to race. While that is ballzy on his part, he knew damn well something was wrong with the car by turn 1, and that is giving him a pass on not paying attention before.

Yep , Driver error  BUT , Not sure why the Track did not throw the Black Flag  , but the DRIVER KNEW , Trust me , HE KNEW something was NOT right!!!! It always sucks when your leading a race and something goes wrong , don't matter if it's a heat race , B-main or Feature! To a Driver though (been there) after working all week to provide for your family and to put the work into your weekend (RaceCar) , You will get alittle antsy , and whether the car feels right or not , you just might GO FOR IT !!!!! :P Bottom Line: Track was wrong - especially when the announcer acknowledged the flat tire  Driver - Well A driver is just that , A DRIVER  Isn't that what attracts us fans???? NUFF SAID ;)

My name is Landon Simon I drive the number 24 sprintcar.... Here is my view of this situation as a driver that was in that B main with brandon....Under caution i watched as brandons tire went down....I also watched him feel out his car in every corner during this caution that seemed to be 5-6 laps...Brandon knew he had a problem and more than likely knew it was his tire...BUT he did what any other driver would do and stayed on the race track because he was leading the race... Drivers are and should be responsible for there saftey and the saftey of others but in this situation after seeing that he was not goin to the infield or pit area the officials should have told him to do so.... I know not everyone will agree with that but fact is.. its unsafe to race with a flat tire in a sprint car!!!!!!! As for WRP staff and Officials- we run one way radios for saftey...yet not one time was brandon or anyone told that he had a flat over the radio...i waved at the infield workers and flag men under caution while pointing at the #15..there is no reason someone didnt address that problem...I know that WRP only has a couple people that watch the entire track but maybe they need more, or maybe the ones they have need to be trained on what is and is not safe! I have been involed in tangles at WRP and thought that my racecar maybe damaged and asked an official to look and see....the typical answer is..."all you tires are ok"! to later find a broke or bent steering componet when I take the green.... i understand that not everyone knows about racecar (sprint car) construction and saftey but our crew members do...and with that said I think it would be a great idea if under red/caution flags drivers could take their cars to the turn 4 push off opening and allow one member from the team to look over the car for saftey issues....not to make changes or fix damage..just to ensure the saftey of their driver and every other driver on the track!!! just my opinion... another option that many tracks do is hire a Sprint car saftey official...I know many quilified people that would do it for a free pit pass!!! Last but not least you people that hide behind a username and pick apart people and there post are a joke....grow a pair and put your name on every post.... EX...MASTER OF ALL!!!! laugh my butt off at you HAHAHAH LOL SIGNED LANDON SIMON #24 ;)

First of all, I can understand the concern on this - he should have been notified about it, and told to pull off the track. Something to discuss with the track officials.....was it? New racer, or whatever the hell your name is - I asked the question of whether it was really really low, or flat.....there is a huge difference. You responded by telling me to shut the f up since I wasn't there, and later stated you hoped that the next time it happens it will be in front of me, and tears up my equipment. First things first, no I was not there - the reason I asked about whether it was flat, or very low. Not an unreasonable question. You went on a jibberish rant, and it was a question I had to form an opinion on it. This is a message board, made to discuss racing. I personally do not care whether you like me as a person, fan, racer, or anything else - that's your deal. I will say that friends of mine, and many others here have lost their lives to this sport. I strongly recommend you think long and hard about the responses you are personally going to get by making these kinds of statements. I certainly hope you are not in ANY kind of race car with this attitude. Until you can spell, and construct a sentence beyond a preschool level, I wont bother to entertain you with responses from here on out. Please come say hello sometime. Tim Cole

Its nice to see that when some one does voice their opinion in a reasonable way that they are not afraid to put their name behind it. Thats the kind of people that you like to hear on here express their thoughts on some thing. It means a lot more when you dont hide behind a screen name when you are putting some one down. Like wideopen24 said he saw Brandon feeling his car out in every corner, maybe the track officials saw that he was testing it and were letting him make the call as to how he thought it felt. Thank you Tim and Landon

ok that sounds good, but letting some race car drivers call the shots is never good. I dont know brandon, but i know race car drivers and not all make the right decision all the time. Also he was leading. Yea it may be only a b-main but its racing you go out to win everytime. I bet if he was running last he would have pulled in, and i also think wmp could use some more officials.

He WAS told that he had a flat on the radio, but not told to leave the track. When he passed the pit grandstand before the flagman gave them one to go, it looked like there was air in the tire, but not much. The next time by, I couldn't tell. If you ask me, it was a damned if you damned if you don't situation. If they would have told him to leave the track, and there was 2-3 pounds left in the tire, they could have thrown a fit that they shouldn't have been taken off the track. Where as with it flat, it could have caused a big accident. He held his own until they got to 3 and 4, so it must've had a little something left in it, or the car would've dug in when he threw it into turn 1. Would I have liked to seen the yellow stay out? Sure I would've but it didn't. The bottom line is that he knew his right rear was low and opted to stay in position. Lesson learned all the way around? You betcha
