I attended the races at Waynesfield's 1/4 mile track last night. It was the first time I have been there, and I have some suggestions/opinions of the facility. First I need to say Thanks! to the owner of the track, for spending the money and time to build a racetrack. And the $10 ticket price is great. Also Thanks! to the track workers for being there and doing what you do. However.................Here is a list of some things I saw that the owner and promoter might want to consider: 1-The lawn chair area outside of turn 4. a-It seems to be too low, and with the 3 rows of guardrail, it is tough to see any race cars on the frontstretch from a sitting position. 2-The grandstand. a-The walkway at the front of the grandstand is way too narrow. With people sitting in the front row it is difficult to get from one side of the stands to the other...and when someone is coming the other direction it is a pain in the butt! b-The 'U' bolts on the top hand rail (on the front at the walkway) are tough on a persons fingers!!!!! Also the angle iron that the U bolts attach to sticks up above the rail, and as you are trying to wade through the walkway with people sitting there and people coming the other way, the angle iron busts you in the elbow! c- There needs to be a place to get into the grandstand at the 1st turn end. And since the only way to get to the middle grandstand entrance is to walk under the bleachers, there needs to be a 'roof' to prevent people from getting hit by pop/beer cans etc. as they are walking. (Winchester Speedway has similar grandstand entrances, and they have these 'roof's') 3- The P.A system, and traffic light wires. a- The wires are strung is the raised sections of the guard rail, between the guard rail and the posts. In the case of a crash on the frontstretch, it is a really good possibility that the wires will be damaged/severed. 4- The restrooms/concession stand. a- They are too far away! I understand that the owner is probably trying to get the big track up and going, and is trying to use what he already has. However it is tough when younger kids need to go to the restroom and it is so far away! 5- The racetrack itself. a- The big tires around the infield are a bad deal! Car tires, halfway buried (like Limaland has) is alot easier on the front ends of race cars. Also they wont be getting 'punted' out of position, or on to the race track. The big tires destroyed a couple of front ends on Mini-Sprints, and a stock car, along with causing the mess in the trucks. b- >The track needs to be prepped differently if you expect to have sprint cars.< The track can't be prepped like a Kart track...watering just around the bottom, close to the tires!!! With the banking that is in place, there should be no reason for sprinters to be in a parade around the bottom!! The sprint races last night looked like indoor midget races...single file, right around the tires, the only way to pass is to give the guy in front of you a shot in the ass to 'move' him. The only time they could get in the throttle was coming off of the turn to half way down the straight, then it was stand on the brakes and try to keep from stalling the engine or sliding way out..until it was time to come off of the corner. The Modifieds were similar. The other classes were really good races, but keep in mind, they are -lower horsepower- classes. I realize there is a lot of blood sweat and tears that has already been shed to make the track what it is now. And Eldora and Limaland didn't always look like they do now either....LOL. I just wanted to offer a few suggestions/opinions. I also want to say..... Dan Kelly's #31 truck is sharp! I didn't stay for the features past Kent Wolters flip, but Dan ran a nice heat race, nearly winning! Keep plugging away Waynesfield, you have the start of a great track!

Many Dusty Ditto's to ya 1fast83!! Waynesfield is going in the RIGHT direction - Time & money is only going to make it better! I gave you and your Dad a holler at Waynesfield Saturday night, but I figured you didn't hear me......or were you trying to ignore me?????? LOL - Waynesfield just may become my next favorite hangout! More sprints there than at Lima Friday night & it looked like MOST everyone had fun, although some might argue that being on your lid isn't too much fun! For the most part, I was impressed with the progress made in the facility this year over last year. Maybe they could put a Hotdog hut under the grandstand and just sell Hotdogs, chips, popcorn, pop & coffee there & sell everything else in the main concession stand???? Just a thought Anyway,Two thumbs up for Waynesfield!!!! Posted Image

thats what i cant fiqure out that many sprints showing up and some you dont see at lima that much, dues told me a long time ago he will go thru lima to got to attica or fremont because of lima,s ruff track, but lima is starting to get a hold of it,just a shame that some of the young guns like eddie will take the wing off and run but some regulars at lima wont, waynesfield might be the place for sprints on sat nights with eldora not running 360,s that much

1 fast 83 thanks for the compliment on our truck. I was really trying to get by the 81 truck in the heat but I think I got to him to late. He ran a really nice clean line though so props to him. The track was really rough by the time we got out there to run the A-Main. With the suspensions that we run it really made it hard to hold a line in the A. The track really broke up around the bottom but I couldn't run the top because I would wash out. I ended up 4th due to a bonehead mistake on my part with a few laps to go. I went below the cone on a restart and got penalized two spots. I simply forgot the cone was there .....my loss. Thanks again 1 fast 83. Waynesfield ......keep up the good work, you are heading in the right direction. Dan Kelly [This message has been edited by OGRE (edited 05-23-2005).]

that was the slickest the track has ever been ,its usually better than that ,but with the large turn out of sprints it probly dried up the track quite a bit

The track was dry for hotlaps already. Maybe someone should steal Limalands watertruck and bring to Waynesfield. Last year we always had 2 grooves. It's no fun to play follow the leader. More and more cars are coming to Waynesfield. Hopefully the track will get better to keep the cars coming back. It was good to see Jerry up in the stands thanking the spectators for coming. You would never see that at limaland.

All of you are correct about the track conditions it was slick. I got into turn three too hard a few times and actually squealed my tires. I also think that those of you conversing on here about the conditions know the biggest difference is that Waynesfield will listen to our suggestions. I'm sure they knew that the track was too dry but it was too late to do anything about it at that point. I have talked with Greg before and he really catches some flack from his neighbors about the dust so this is one of his bigger concerns. I expect that the conditions will be much better the next time we race. However it don't sound too good for this coming weekend as of right now. You know everyone always talks about how Limaland needs a new clay surface. Waynesfield is only dirt and it seems to be a decent track other than breaking up some. I really noticed the bottom of the track was eroded by the time we got on the track.

Hey Dusty!! We were looking for you and your brother, but didn't see you guys when we got there.........I guess we didn't hear when you were yelling at us .LOL OGRE: You guys have pride in the appearance or your truck, and it shows! It looks first class, and seems like it's pretty quick too!! I thought you were going to get past that dude in your heat.....you just needed 1 more lap! Your uncle running #31 didn't have a part in you using that number ...did it?..lol The lack of an actual water 'truck' isn't the issue I don't think....what they were using would be OK....However, not even watering past mid way up the banking is pretty much dictating that everyone is going to be running around the bottom!! I agree skip, maybe they should try watering Thursday, and Friday nights in preperation (if they don't already) The 3rd and 4th turns look to be about the same banking as Gas City...and they have non wing sprints running 3-4 wide in the feature...that would be AWESOME to have that at Waynesfield!!!!!!!!!!!! I think the place would be a real hot bed of non wing racing if they can get the track where the sprinters could do some passing. Does anyone know why Waynesfield's 1 & 2 turns are so much higher than 3 & 4? They look to be of a steeper banking..or is that an optical illusion because they are so much taller than 3 & 4

1 Fast 83 yes you are correct...I run #31 because of my uncle. I would try to pay tribute to both of my uncles but my uncle Dick has changed numbers 4 times so I can't pick one. My uncle Dennis has always ran #31 and since he is retired it only made sense to me to use that number. Thanks for the compliment on our truck appearance, you are correct we do take pride in the appearance. Sometime stop by and say hi so that I can put a face with your username sometime. I just enjoy meeting everyone in the racing community. As far as the banking in the track, when they first built the track it was very flat all the way around. The drivers suggested that they put some banking in it, so they did. Since the guard rail was already installed in turn 3 & 4 that limited how to put banking in. They dug the infield a little deeper to allow some banking in 3 & 4. In turn 1 & 2 they did the same but they also added some dirt to allow more banking. That is why there is more banking in 1 & 2 than 3 & 4. I think it makes a challenge to make the car handle in 3 & 4. I like he fact that it makes the track unique! I just like to race, so I try to not complain too much about the conditions but if I think there is something that a suggetion will help to improve then I offer a suggestion just as you are doing. This is what builds character in a race track......letting the people provide input and seeing a return on that input. Stop by 1 fast 83 I'll be glad to meet you. From what I heard many other say, the track condition at lima is one of the reasons some drivers dont go there, but the main reason is the way they treat you if you are not one of their "stars" like Allison. I know many drivers have made the same comment about how it seems like certain drivers in each class get preferential treatment and everyone else gets crapped on.

How can you say Allison gets SPECIAL treatment from Limaland??? Correct me If I am wrong but if Tim could have it his way I am sure He would tell them to dump the entire water truck on the track fill it up and do it again until the track was so heavy the rest of you would whine and cry and be ready to quit for the rest of the year and he would go on to win week after week. I don't see that happening and I don't believe you have any facts to back up your statement. Just another sore looser who is continually looking for excuses

WOW! As far as I am concerned your sore looser part is something that should have been kept to yourself. Since your point of view comes so close to the Allison camp, that statment only makes his or your team look unprofessional. That is something each team needs to realize your personal statments will either make or break your fan image and little things here and there will create your own team image. And if the case is that you don't care what fans think then why again the childish statement from a family member? On another note, Wanyesfield is doing a great job! Its not the track that does it for me its the people that run and are involved with it! All around a super job for them!! Great to see more sprints out there than at Lima on Friday....they even hand out less money and you don't here those racers complaining about that! That right there says something about the people and vision this place has! Just my thoughts!

tim is a good foot to the floor racer, he showed that last week , where did he come from looked like he would be in 4th all night , look at lenny guyton he is a real favorit and hard charger the fans like him he has gotten into trouble and lima has booted him, they didnt show him any favortism, past champion and a real crowd pleaser, and glad he is back, when some people are winners , others find ways to put them down, i think lima has a bunch of good hard chargers, sometimes some of their calls dont seem right ,and a few have choosen not to come back, timmy is a proven winner and sooner or later some get a bad taste in their mouth about him, some think the only way to beat him is with words and putting him down,i would bet you that if walters , dussell, williams, boughan, or any of the others drivers could dust his britches on any given they would love to because he is one of the best at lima, like him or not he can drive, [This message has been edited by skip (edited 05-26-2005).]

Sorry Brent, I think you took what I was trying to say the wrong way due to the way I worded my previous post. I didnt mean he was getting special treatment in terms of they were giving Tim an advantage over anyone else by any means. What I should of said is that if you are not one of the big dogs at Lima (in any class), the management at Lima doesnt seem to care about you or appreciate you racing at their track. As long as they have thier few "stars" that is all they need in their opinion and I think their car counts are starting to relfect this mentality. Where as Waynesfield (and many other tracks), it seem like everyone feels welcome- even those of us lowly, low budget racers. That was the point I was trying to get across and I apologize if it was taken in any other manner.

I don't want to say anything bad about anyone or any track but I will give a compliment when deserved. You are correct Teamnofear1, Waynesfield has been extreemly friendly and fair as fair can be so far even to the lower budget classes such as I run in the trucks. Everyone is treated the same and that is the way it should be. I think it is also great that Jerry Lear took time out of his busy schedule to walk through the stands and thank everyone for coming out and supporting the racing action at Waynesfield. I feel comfortable and actually wanted at this track unlike places that I have been in the past....no names mentioned though. I've said it before and will say it again, I'll keep referring people to this track as long as they treat people like people. It is very obvious that Greg (track owner) wants to make things nicer and nicer. I really proud to say I race at Waynesfield and not ashamed of anyone saying I am sucking up......and why is that?> because everyone else thinks the same thing.
