3rd, 4th & 5th ran the ASCS National Tour All Year, those other 3 though, ya -- it's a shame, but that's what happens when the series puts up the big money i guess.. was great racing all weekend, and even though we had to race them unlimited budget folks... it sure felt to see Rick make the A Friday while some of those million dollar teams were loading up...and passing Saldana in the feature before the rearend went sour - i just hope he can get a ride in Ohio for next year, definately deserves it.
congrats Rick and Darren making the show on the Prelim nights.
congrats Darren on 13th in the National Points, great accomplishment considering the talent at every race and HUGE car counts all year for the ASCS Tour.

How can you call it cherry picking when you are racing against people who race for a living??? There is only a few that made the show you can even consider weekend warriors

Sammy Swindell, Tim Keading, Shane Stewart, Paul McMahan, Joey Saldana, Brady Bacon, Danny Wood, and Jesse Hockett running 360s.......you don't call that cherry picking??? These guys have all been in some of the most potent 410s in the country, most with a wing on all the time, running from coat to coast. They are racing against guys who have minimal budgets, have run mostly regionally, and have far less experience. Not too long ago, most of the 410 guys though the 360s were a joke compared to the 410s. (I'm not saying they are, but that was the general consensus) These guys either dropped down to the 360s because they couldn't 'cut it' in the WoO anymore, or they picked up rides for this race to try to snatch the big money=Cherry Picking.

I don't want to join this arguement but I will say this.
Sammy drove the #10 he has drove all year long in 360 and 410 races
Tim Keading drives 360's throughout the year every year in Cali
Shane Stewart won the ASCS points this year.(360 races)
Paul McMahan ran the entire ASCS schedule
Brady Bacon is a non-wing driver just starting to run with the wing on
Jesse Hockett runs ASCS and will run anything! (360,410,wing,nonwing)
Danny Wood ran the ASCS schedule
Joey well we all know where he ran.Just a race to get in before heading to New Zealand and Aussie!!
I would not call any of this cherry picking!
A racer wants to race! He will find a place to race!

All of them are current, or former, World of Outlaws or USAC drivers....all of them have done quite a bit of travelling, and have all wheeled top notch equipment, with owners/sponsors that have deep pockets. Now they are running 360s.............. Don't forget, Johnny Herrera, Danny Lasoski, and Jerry Coons Jr. were there too.....once again, current or former WoO and USAC drivers. If Steve Kinser or Donny Schatz, drops a 360 in every now and then next year, and wins the 'big money' 360s shows (pushing the true 360 racers further back in the finishing order...or sending them home without making the show), will you think that's great too? Well need for speed why don't you put some of these "former WoO and USAC" drivers in "YOUR" 410 so you don't have to worry about it? Look @ how many good drivers are out there right now that don't have a ride due to there not being any rides available! This day and age with the way the economy is who cares who is driving what? These guys race as much as possible because that's what puts food on the table for their families genius. God forbid they have to race against The national ASCS traveling series to get a check!!!! Damn near everyone in that A main races for a living (maybe two that don't). Do you think these guys tow all the way across the country on the weekend to race and show up @ wal-mart Monday morning to go back to their greeter position? Here's a quarter....go buy a clue! Not a one...but then again I'm not the one whining about who drives what car. Thats my whole point...If I had the money to have a top notch 410 i would more than likely call one of those drivers you are whining about to drive it. But since I don't I'll just sit back and be happy that they have rides and they can make a living driving a sprint car. I can't stoop to your level to b**ch and moan on the internet about people being cherry pickers. Have a nice day, weekend and holidays know it all!

Its not like they showed up to a $800 to win race at Lakeville. Its the ASCS National TOUR. You know they travel across the country paying $6,000 to win. And cherry picking happens when there is a WoO show going on and they sneak away and go steal the money. The WORLD OF OUTLAWS season is over! You seem like you feel sorry for these guys that finished 7th-20th because they got beat by some cherry pickers. Well I hate to break it to you but when they (ASCS Tour regulars) pull in with their $300,000+ operations to a ASCS REGIONAL race with a bunch of low buck guys, Im guessing they don't feel too bad when they cash their check! You throw the big money out there to get the big money drivers! Like dirk said "get a clue" step off the Limaland porch once and awhile and you would know a thing or two! Oh Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Posted 13 December 2009 - 12:13 AM back to the original topic, darren and rick did a great job at the western world making the A's on their prelim nights while MANY high dollar teams didn't, they showed they are as good drivers as the best in the country... very cool weekend for both and a great season for Darren.. looking forward to 2010 for them both, hopefully they get to keep doing what they love RACING!!!!
