Crate Late Model World Championship - East Bay

This past weekend Josh Holtgraver traveled to Florida to race against some of the best Crate Late Model teams across the country at the Crate Late Model World Championship held at East Bay Raceway Park.

Friday brought the Heat races to the bay and Holtgraver, starting fifth, put on a very impressive showing as he raced hard up through the field to second, gaining on the leader. He caught the leader, but he knew he was in the transfer postion so he settled for the second place finish.

“We were pretty stong,” says the third year driver, “We came through the field pretty fast and the D&T Autobody Rocket Chassis was hooked up! Once I got to the leader, I didn’t want to press it too hard because I knew I was going to make the big 100 lap Main Event.”

Saturday was reserved for the consolation races and the mains in which Holtgraver lined up just outside the top ten at 11th for the start of the 100-lapper. He held his position throughout the early laps, but on lap 18, the lift bar broke on the car ending the night for the Pittsburgh, PA native.

“We were very disappointed,” exclaims Holtgraver. “We had a great car and it was working well, but these kinds of things happen. We’ll get back to the shop and get ready for next year!”

Special Thanks to D&T Auto Body, Weaver’s Auto Sales, Weidner Heating & Air, Accu•Force Shock Dynos, Flinner Signs & Decals, Rocket Chassis and Racers for Tot’s.
