Have to wish Jeff good luck on getting a latemodel ride. Below is a quote from his web site.. HALCOMB RACING SELECTS BABCOCK FOR 2010 LATE MODEL EFFORT Wayne, OH (December 23, 2009) - The final checkered flag flew on Jeff Babcock’s season back in October, but the Wayne, Ohio driver has yet to actually slow down off the track. Babcock has been working feverishly behind the scenes to get plans lined up to go racing again in 2010. A large piece to that puzzle fell into place this week when Shane and Jennifer Halcomb tabbed the two-time Modified Champion as primary driver of their JEGS Performance and Professional Drywall sponsored #1 car on the Sunoco American Late Model Series tour. Babcock was quick to express gratitude towards the veteran car owners. “I can’t thank Shane and Jennifer enough for this opportunity. Obviously, I’m still working on getting the pavement deal off the ground, but this will allow me to progress on the dirt side of things at the same time. We are working on juggling schedules so that I can continue the plans on the ARCA deal, while still competing for a Sunoco American Late Model Series Championship in 2010.” Babcock will step into an experienced program that has multiple championships and countless wins to their credit. The Halcomb’s will begin 2010 as the defending Sunoco American Late Model Series Champions. “That is what made Babcock a great choice for the ride,” explained Shane Halcomb. “Jeff is a fiery competitor and he knows how to win. Not to mention, he has so much experience on many of the tracks that we will race at with the late model. That will certainly help with his transition over to the full-bodied Late Model. We are excited for the upcoming year.” Babcock will have a little extra help in the pits on many occasions as well. Aaron Scott will drive a team car to Babcock several times during the season, including all Eldora Late Model events. “This is such a great opportunity for me to learn and advance,” quipped the excited Babcock. “I’ll have great people all around me, starting with Shane and Jennifer; a great teammate in Aaron; and a great crew as well. It feels like Christmas came a few days early for me. I have to thank Dave Luchini and everyone associated with the #52 Modified team as well. If it wasn’t those guys, I wouldn’t be in the position I am right now.” For news, photos, and off-season blogs, visit Babcock on Facebook at www.facebook.com/jeffbabcockracing

The real question is how they going to get the car to the track?????? last I knew they had to borrow a rig since Jim got tired of using his rig and money to fuel it to get them to the track. Without Jon bringing the money from the college wonder how they're going to run a whole season. New driver with no experience, Jeff's a good driver but its going to be a learning curve, hope they have the money for that.

I would have to think that UNO will still sponser Halcomb's car. It's not like they "dislike" Jeff Babcock. They are taking him to Florida next month. Jeff also put some fans in the stands at Limaland on Friday nights for quite a few years. I bet the college will continue to support the late model and doubt they will not let them continue to use their trailer. Shane does know a little bit about the learning curve of a rookie. They just won the championship with a rookie driver. I believe Jon Henry is a heck of a driver for sure. I also know that Jeff is just as good a driver as Jon. Just my opinion......

Well you might be thinking too much, they sponser Jon not the car. I'm not saying they dislike Jeff, but he's going because he won the championship. The trailer is not being used by Halcombs anymore take that to the bank, besides Jim's truck pulled it when they did let JON use it. Shall we take a poll on how long he will drive????? Remember when Jerry Bowersock drove for them didn't last long either.

WOW 430 sounds like someone has an AX to grind. Having to pull a race car to the race that isn't yours to be able to drive it sounds like a cheap way to race. I would think that if they have the money to have the equpment they have, they will figure out how to get it to the track. As far as the poll goes as good a driver as Jeff he could repete what Jon did.

No AX to grind, just stating the facts as I know them. At the level of late model you should your race program FULLY EQUIPPED with the rig, When you buy a pair of shoes would you be happy with one in the box?????? You can still hop around right???? Hum by the way I think the Henrys have the money to race the same car Halcombs have probably even better. Just my thoughts (comments), that I have every right to express. One more thing, I would like to see Jeff make one more run after the UMP national championship, if Jon would have year before last instead of gettin in the latemodel he would have been champ.
