There will be racing at Millstream Speedway during the 2010 season under a lease agreement between Greg and Mary Beth Roe and Fremont Speedway promoters Rich Farmer and Andy James, it was announced Monday. The lease is for 2010 and perhaps beyond. “We are planning to run three to four races this year with more to come in 2011,” said Farmer. “The fans have shown beyond a doubt they want racing at Millstream and we are going to work hard to provide them with the fun and excitement they have come to expect there. We look forward to building great relationships with the people in the Findlay and surrounding communities along with establishing business partnerships that will benefit everyone.” After sitting idle for nearly eight years, Millstream reopened in 2008 with a pair of races and the fans twice packed the historic track's grandstands. There were also a pair of programs in 2009, featuring the Ohio Sprint Speedweek and a regular show in August. While no firm schedule has been set for 2010 racing, Farmer noted that the popular Speedweek, featuring the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions, will return on Sunday, June 20 as the third leg of nine straight nights of racing. Farmer also said the ties between Fremont Speedway and Millstream go back to the 1960s and 1970s and at one time the Findlay track was owned by then Fremont Speedway promoters Paul and Dot Szakovitz. Farmer and James also joined the Roes in a racing show last season. “We have a great group of employees at Fremont and that will help us tremendously in getting Millstream going,” said Farmer. “We know we have a lot of work to do and we will roll up our sleeves and get going soon.” Farmer said improvements at Millstream will be made to the track's lighting and sound systems and plans are to reopen the track's main concession stand. Farmer said Millstream's Website, www.millstreamspeedway.com, will be updated soon.

Good for them. I hope Rich and Andy are able to make a go of it up there despite the challenges that any promoter will face at that particular facility. witness, despite the belief that we are brow beating anyone for putting info about other tracks on here, I see no reason to say anything about this post unless they plan to run events that directly compete with WRP for fans or cars. As far as I can tell they haven't announced any events beyond their Speedweek show. Now with them running a full season next year, WRP may have to rethink running as many Sunday night shows...but we can cross that bridge next winter. Lets just hope Rich and Andy are able to get the restrooms up and running ASAP up there. I'm sure that anyone who went to any of the shows held there during the last 2 years will agree that the restrooms should be at or near the top of the list. As far as the PA and sound system goes. Everything appeared to work ok once the wiring was reconnected on the big speaker near the flagstand last year. That leads me to believe that with some new speakers for the pit area and some fresh wiring all the way around, they shouldn't have to fork over a fortune to get it sounding good. Having friends and family that raced there over the years and after having the opportunity to announce an event there last summer, I do have a bond with the place. But don't expect to hear me say much about it on here or on the PA anymore....LOL Gerry

You didn't bother any of us. Alot of us at Waynesfield can be found at other tracks on our off nights and some of us have a soft spot for Findlay. You will probably run into some of us at Millstream when they race.

As far as getting on Waynesfield forum page thats wrong . Why not put out a press release on different forums. We the fans and drivers read them. I get on this to see Waynesfield info. If I want to hear about Millsteam I go to Pitgate. With Mary beth and Greg Roe within the first sentence of your thread I say good luck with that.

Dirt "Star" you seem a little jealous? Maybe because Rich Farmer and Andy James are willing to put in the time and money to make the place better. You cant say that about any other promoters in the last 10 years. They all gave up after less than a year. Give credit where credit is due. With great promoters like Andy and Rich, Millstream may be a success. BTW Dirt Star you act like Waynesfield rules racestud. If i want to read about Millstream, i get on racestud. Half a year ago, Waynesfield had posts about Millstream. Every forum should be open to any track talk. its all racing.

I have to agree with you SP Motorsports!!! Your right, no one HAS stuck it out at Millstream. It seems to me that (with the last senerio) at Millstream that the promoter that was doing the promoting has a short fuse, as does the Roes, or at least one of them does. This is what killed that short-lived deal. Now I would have to say that the folks up in Fremont HAVE given alot more than this last fiasco ever did. Even though there is rich history between Millstream and Fremont the folks up there care and truly listen to their fans, and not their pocketbooks!!! Believe me I have been to WMP and I think they have a great facility (racetrack), however that promoter DOES have a temper. I have heard this guy go OFF on his locals on more than one occasion, and can just imagine what happened up in Findlay, sad to say really. Anyhow I believe that the guys from Fremont are willing to Invest, whereas the other was NOT! And YES I Agree IT'S ALL RACING!!! I have to praise and wish luck to Farmer and James for doing what they are doin in Findlay Ohio, just as they have done in Fremont! :) And I think as they put this all together over time, you just might see THREE tracks workin together, just north of here! Something you will never have here as long as one track does it for the purpose of Business, and the other keeps playing around (now for the second year under this promoter) and NOT building a fan base. I think the biggest problem with this area, is that they NEED to look at what is going on up north! These two tracks ATTICA and FREMONT have it going on, WHY? because they work together and don't get all bent out of shape! Heck they even have the very successful F.A.S.T. series goin on. And they are trying hard to even get another f.a.s.t. series for one of their own support divisions, YEA I SAID SUPPORT division!

Wow, really? Incentives for Support divisions?

That sounds like a good plan to keep local racers in business!!!

I too wish the Fremont boys success at Millstream as this place does have a rich history!!! One thing I would like to add that everyone seems to forget......the Roes and James/Farmer have been dual promoters once before, so they too have given up once before. Anyway...good luck to them. Still an exciting year of racing ahead for this entire area!

Like i have said before , there would not be a limaland if dean wouldnt of had one race in a yr for lima to keep their zoning when Earl had it and was going to leave it sit. And dont forget there would not be life at Millstream if DEAN wouldnt of went over there and got the ball rolling for others TO FOLLOW. Just remember Dean set the fire at Millstream and got people all excited about it again.
