Let me give you one small example. They have had a bump or dip in turn #1 for over 15 years now and have never been able to get rid of it. They have been through 3 owners since the Scheerers sold it. The track was siezed by the US government over a tax and drug raid by one of the owners. Some people don't remember this but initially ShadyBowl used to be dirt....they had a track right where they are talking about putting one again! Don't get me wrong, there have been some awesome drivers race there.....Sceva, Dunlevy, Dean, Vallo and so on, but most of the good drivers always find better places to race because they aren't on the favorite list of the owners. The current owner of that track is the worst one of them all for showing favortism. If your not on his list then you might as well give it up because you're not going to get any breaks there. They charge $30 to get in the pits. The overall condition of the facility is pathetic. They have many fights in the pits there! That's why when some people talk about Limaland showing favortism I just laugh.....because Limaland is nothing like ShadyBowl! Limaland is 1,000 times more professional than the bowl. One last example.....my uncle Dennis raced there for a few years and he was winning quite regularly. There were a few officials that swore up and down he was using illegal tires, traction control and even fuel additives such as poly-propeline. Well he put a squash to all of those rumors by letting the officials go over his car with a fine tooth comb. They even brought in an Engineer from Hoosier tire to inspect his tires.......they found nothing! So all of the sudden half way in to the season they put in a claim rule for the tires. For $150 you could claim all four tires from the winner......you guessed it they claimed Dennis tires every week after he won. He kept turining down the claim because the tires were more expensive to buy than the $150 to claim them. So he put an offer out to the owner (Stapelton) to buy him a set of tires and he'll put them on his car....well he did and Dennis still won! Anyway.....my uncle sued the track over this because he never was paid a dime over the season......and the judge found that the track was at fault for singling out one person over a rule implimented in the middle of the year. My uncle won the suit and never raced there again....he moved on to Mansfield and continued to win until he retired after a broken neck........check ShadyBowls rules out now....you have to buy your tires straight from them! That place is a redneck heaven! I'm not downgrading anyone that runs there at all.....actually I feel sorry for them because they have to run there! I just wanted to run there one more time so that I could take some more of Charlie's money =)
