10 Consecutive Top 10's Push Schlenk Towards UMP National Points Lead!

Jackson Michigan, (04/21/2010)

Coming off a wild triple header weekend with 3 Top 3 finishes "The Jackson Assassin" solidifies himself as the UMP East Region's Top Threat for the UMP National Championship, and runs his record to 10 Consecutive Top 10 finishes.

The weekend started off with the ALMS Series Opener at Attica Raceway Park. After a Second Place finish in his heat, Schlenk would start 6th in the Feature Event, and quickly work his way to the third spot and focus on the lead two cars. Once the leaders caught lap traffic The young and talented Wheelman seized the opportunity, overtaking the second place runner, and draw up side by side with race leader Doug Drown on the white flag lap. "When I caught the leader him and I split a lapped car and it killed my momentum, so we ended up second" said Rusty, via telephone conversation from his Jackson, Michigan Race Shop. The second event of the weekend was held at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speeday on Saturday Night. With a small but stout field of cars, Rusty Schlenk served notice Eldora Speedway is no longer a weak link in his arsenal. As the checkered flag flew on the feature event, Schlenk would end up a career best, third in the final rundown, along with the "Hard Charger" award, after starting in the 9th position." We just don't have the motor to qualify on a heavy track here, but once it slicks off we feel like we can race with anybody here" stated Schlenk after the Feature EventFull results from Eldora's Event can be viewed here: http://www.eldoraspe...om/results.html

The final event of the weekend would be held on Sunday afternoon, at Waynesfield Raceway Park, just East of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Once again, a small but talented field assembled to do battle on one of the area's newest Bull Rings. Schlenk would show strength early, as he won his hear race easily, and grabbed the 7th starting spot. When the green flag dropped, Rusty wasted little time working his way towards the front, ending up in a fierce side by side battle with Two Time ALMS Series Champion Brian Ruhlman. The two former ALMS Series Champs traded slide jobs and split lap cars as they took the white flag. The final lap saw Rusty get a good run on Brian, passing him on the entry to turn one, but drifted high on the exit of turn two, to end up 3rd in the final rundown.
