Dear loyal readers, If you are surprised to see us, it is great to see you again, too. Mid-American Auto Racing News has been part of our region’s racing heritage for 40 years. Before the Internet, and before the mainstream media’s acknowledgement of auto racing as a genuine sport, this weekly newspaper was here for us. It was our source for our region’s special brand of short track auto racing. It was our source for news, race results, advertising of upcoming races and entertainment. We loved our racing, and we gave it a weekly hug by spending sometime absorbing it all through this special newspaper. Like you, when we learned of the paper’s shutdown, we didn’t want to say goodbye to the old friend that Mid-American Auto Racing News is to thousands of us here in the Midwest. Just a few weeks ago, with the help of the family of the late publisher Nancy Hatch, we signed on as the new owners of Mid-American Auto Racing News. We are grateful to the Hatch family, and the Cole family before them, for their years of service to short track racing through this newspaper. And we would be totally remiss if we didn't mention the service and dedication of Sue Cass. For over 30 years Sue has always been there doing whatever was needed to keep Mid-American the number 1 trade publication in the midwest. She has sure earned her retirement but we hope she won't be too upset with us if we have to lean on her for her knowledge and expertise once in a while. We may be new owners, but like this paper, we’ve been part of the sport for decades as track and event promoters. We grew up with Mid-American Auto Racing News, too. Ashley Maxwell is our new Editor. She’ll lead this paper to add more chapters to its wonderful history. And all of us know that each of us who is a part of short track racing – promoters, fans, drivers, engine builders, mechanics, team members – we’re all a part of this sport because we love it. Sincerely, Dean and Jane Miracle, Carl Short, and Ashley Maxwell

I read in the last issue that Speedsport Racing News was taking over the subscriptions. Is this new?

Best of luck to you with the new enterprise! Dean what keeps you going? I haven't a clue, you have more ambition and drive than most teenagers. Whatever it is they need to take out a full page ad ,to help keep the paper afloat, and to let the the rest of us know how how ya do it.

Speedsport did pick it up.....kinda. My dad has a subscription and said he got something from Speedsport saying that he will only get 10 more issues of that paper to replace his Mid American that was paid up thru October.

I don't know how many times I've said this in the past 30 years, but thank God for Dean Miracle.
