Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Hammons family, Ron and Gene in the passing away of their mother yesterday. God bless Ron, Gene and their mother.

Catherine Marie “Katie” Hammons, 79, died at 1:20 p.m. May 30, 2010, at Richland Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 4, 1931, in Kansas, Ohio, to Elva R. Baker, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 17, 1951, she married Doyle C. Hammons, who died Feb. 24, 1974.
Mrs. Hammons retired from Textron in 1989. She enjoyed Yahtzee, TV and the Atlanta Braves. She loved spending time with her family and was a wonderful mother. She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
Survivors include two sons, Doyle E. “Gene” Hammons, of Lima, and Ronald L. (Beth) Hammons, of Elida; two daughters, Sandra S. “Sandy” (Dan) Lamb, of Wapakoneta, and Karen S. (Marion) Hites, of Lima; 13 grandchildren, Kristi, Nikki, Jon and Matt Hammons, David (Kara) Hammons, Todd and Ronnie Hammons, Becky Cooper, Connie (Steve) Heffner, Beth (Toby) Lawhorn, Diana (Shawn) Lawhorn, Jason (Tiffani) Hites, and Dustin Hites; 14 great-grandchildren; and a beloved dog, Buddy.
Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. Pastor Jerry Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in Middle Point.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Richland Manor Nursing Home, 7400 Swaney Road, Bluffton, OH 45817

I want to thank everyone that called, visited, sent cards or flowers during the past few days. The entire Hammons family greatly appreciates your thoughfulness.
