Since Eldora has the Dream this weekend and Waynesfield is not racing, I wanted to mention to any mods and stocks that want to race that Montpelier is racing this Saturday. Modifieds will have their make up feature from last week's rain shortened program in addition to the regular program of UMP Modifieds, Street Stocks (Eldora/Lima Stocks) Thundercars, and Mod-lites. With only a few races left for the mods and stocks on Eldora's schedule, Montpelier would provide a great place to race on Saturday nights. A few of the Eldora cars came to the first race this season and several races at the end of last season. The rules are written to allow both UMP Street Stocks and Eldora/Lima stocks. So far this season in the win column its been UMP Stocks 3, Eldora/Lima Stocks 2. It would be great to see a lot more of them come back to Montpelier again.

What exackly is a mod-lite? I have heard of them but never actually seen them. Do they use smaller motors (6 cylinders)? or are they totally smaller like mini-sprints and use motocycle motors? Just curious. Can you post a pic or should I just try to google for some info?

Kenny, they are basically a mini-mod. They have the appearance of a mod only a sawwed-off version, with motorcycle engine. I believe they run a Hoosier tire. They sometimes run with the dwarf cars and vice-versa. I don't know what CC engine they run though. Prbably a 1000 to 1200????

Here's the link to the photo page for the series that races at Montpelier. That should give you a good idea of what they look like.Indiana Mod-lite Photos
This used to be a dwarf car class that used mini old sedan bodies like most dwarf car and legends car organizations around the country. In the last 5 years or so they have evolved into using mini versions of big block and ump modified bodies. A few of them still use the old dwarf car style though. They use 1000cc to 1200cc motorcycle engines. They put on a good show, there just aren't that many of them around here anymore. Average car count has been about 10. Kids like them though.

If you're looking for a place to race this Friday Montpelier would be a great place to go. The promotor has raised the payout for both mods and stocks. UMP Modifieds will pay $600 to win, and stocks will pay $400 to win.

This Saturday July 17th:
UMP Modifieds will pay $600 guaranteed, and $1,000 if there are 40 cars.
Super Stocks will pay $300 guaranteed, and $400 if there are 20 cars.
No racing at Waynesfield, Lima, or Eldora for either of those classes. This is another great opportunity to visit Montpelier with a chance to take home some extra cash.
