Well, this past Saturday night sure did prove the fault in 'hoosier logic'....hrf's logic to be exact.

Waynesfield had 27 non-wing sprinters. Some were new faces/cars. Some folks towed from IN to OH to race at WRP instead of going to Gas City. IIRC, Steve Irwin is from MI (nice lookin' #0 car!!). Plus, all of Waynesfield's regulars were in attendance also. So, there were cars and drivers from at least 3-4 different states.

The stands at WRP were as full as I have personally seen them this year.

The races were excellent (as always), and even though there were some red flags for flips, and people disappearing over the turn 2 banking, the entire show was completed by 10:30.

Hopefully folks will continue to spread the word about the great racing, and the speed of the show at WRP, so that the stands and the pits are full, -weekly-! This past week a friend of mine brought with him, a guy who had never seen any type of racing in his life....and now he's hooked!!

Gas City had 44 cars for their sprint week show.....and unless something drastically changed, I would bet the stands were full at GC.

So much for the 'WRP won't have any cars or fans' nonsense. ;)

As always the racing that i got to watch was great!! and since we are a minisprint team it was nice to see that most stayed even to watch our feature. Thanks again WPR keep putting on great shows and people will come.... just takes time!!

the mini's was a good feature expept u guys prob didnt like going on ur side softly, i think ur luck was not going to be a good when the car kept stalling. i always root for devon and was not liking him not up front this week but everyone has those kinda night. i would also say it was the best night ever this year. now all we need is the non wings, mods, trucks ans mini's everyweek. but i would say the compacts did put one of thier best show of this year too. im a big mod fan thats why i vote for them, plus they bring a big crowd with them too...jmo

The racing that I got to see was good not sure if they got the quanity of cars they wanted but with the way things are the quality is what brings the fans back and I think they got that on Sat. The stands appeared to have a decent crowd hopefully they come back I know we brought a couple with us and they had a ball and really liked the racing. It seemed as the emergency crews were right on the accidents that I saw and all in all I think things went pretty well.

I'm glad there was a good turnout of cars. Gas City had 44 and the largest crowd in track history. To be able to still have 27 was a nice surprise to me. Quite a few guys just can't afford all the extra expenses and requirements to run with USAC. I'm flattered that Need for Speed was thinking about me so much that he decided to create a topic aimed directly at me. Back to racing - With no racing at Waynesfield or Lawrenceburg, and no modifieds or stocks at Lima or Eldora, I thought some of you might be interested in coming to Montpelier this Saturday. Here's the special program and payout: Crate Late Models Summertime Classic $1,000 to win $175 to start UMP Modifieds $600 to win guaranteed, $1,000 to win with 40 cars. Stocks $300 to win guaranteed, $400 to win with 20 cars. Thundercars $250 to win Modlites $150 to win. It would be great to see a lot of the cars from Ohio come over to race so they can get the higher payout. Even if they don't get to 40 mods and 20 stocks the guaranteed payout increase should attract some really good cars. Much like Waynesfield, the racing will be great as always at Montpelier.

In your own way, it's nice that you finally see what I was telling you all along, and at least admit that you were wrong....

Any why does it not surprise me, that you put a plug for Montpelier in your post...like you've never done that before

Waynesfield probably would have had another car or two like Weir had they not raced against Gas City, but like I said, 27 is pretty good especially with the competition for cars that night. And no I do not mind admitting when I am wrong or when things don't turn out like I think they will. I can man up. Say what you want about me always plugging Montpelier. I could care less what you think about it. If I can do anything to help get people to my home track, the one I grew up at and have supported through lean times and good times, I will. I don't do it to piss off people or to start arguments. If you notice, I never post on the Waynesfield forum about a race that conflicts with a class racing at Waynesfield. Same way with Lima and Eldora. If any of those tracks are not racing mods, or stocks, or whatever class on a night when Montpelier is, I will post the information here so they know they are welcome to come race when there isn't a conflict. I don't have to do it. I don't work for the track or get paid by them or anyone else to spread the information. I just do it because I want the place to be as successful as possible. I would imagine you feel the same way about Waynesfield, so I don't see why you've got a problem with it. You even put a plug for Waynesfield on IOW, so you're doing the same thing. As I have said before, I think you really just have a problem with me.

And I enjoy the fact that you were wrong.... 'I told you so' ....sorry, had to do it.

Now to address your post:

For the record, I'm not affiliated with WRP in any way.

Montpelier has a specific board on Racestud.

You beat the drum for Montpelier constantly, you post about Montpelier on the WRP board, you have bashed/complained about 'the management' and complained about the schedule, etc. regarding WRP, many times.

In contrast: I tell the truth about the great racing and the speed of the program at WRP on the WRP board, and on IOW. When I thought the track was dusty, I have posted so, and have also respectfully discussed the situation with track personnel. I have told the track's promoter, the track workers, scorers, flagging crew, and the announcer 'face to face' that they 'did a good job', 'nice race track tonight', and 'great night tonight', etc. more than once. I have also posted so here, and on IOW. Plus, I have never bashed Montpelier.

WRP is the only track in OHIO that runs a pretty much normal schedule of non-wing sprints....if for nothing else, that is why I want the place to 'make it'. I have several reasons for wanting the track to survive and thrive, but that is the main reason.

IOW does not have any TRACK SPECIFIC boards. Thus, I'm not posting info about WRP in/on a competing track's specific forum on IOW.

On IOW I posted in someone else's thread, who was asking about what was happening at Waynesfield last Sat. night.

As I have said before, I think you really just have a problem with me.

I'm just not real fond of your 'style'.............

DING, DING, DING! Lets get ready to rumble! I think to help get fans in the stands Dean should have Need for Speed and Hoosier Race Fan duke it out on the frontstrech. Just a suggestion. My money would be on a draw cause I don't think either one of them would show up, just sayin.

Why would I want to drive 2 hours to go to Waynesfield when I can drive 2 minutes to Gas City and 30 minutes to Montpelier? That 2 hours is about to become 4 in a few weeks. Nothing against Waynesfield but I have places much closer that I would rather go to.

Hard to fault that logic. I drive an hour every week to go to Waynesfield. Of course I have a little more reason to be there...LOL

With that said, with the economy in the shape it's in, it's hard to justify a long drive to a racetrack when you have other tracks closer. All we can do at WRP is put on the absolute best show that we can, and hope you decide that it's worth it to you to drive past those closer tracks and come race with us. From the look of the grandstands lately, it appears that maybe it's starting to happen.

Take care of yourself wherever you're going thats 4 hours away, and thank you for supporting dirt track racing wherever you're at.

Thanks for the well wishes. Moving due to a new job. Keep puting on good shows and the crowd will come. It is not only a problem at Waynesfield. Non-wing sprints put on a good show and I can honestly say I haven't heard anyone say the racing wasn't good at Waynesfield. I'm very fortunate to be able to see great racing at the two tracks I mentioned also. I know I have complained about the scheduling at Waynesfield and the affect it has on car count. I would really like to see tracks work together to benefit each other, but I also know they have to do what is in their best interest. Hopefully crowds will continue to grow at all tracks mentioned so the great racing we have seen can continue.

Please Hoosier, that was really distastefull, the argument was bad enough, but the vid wasn't necessary. The Terminator
