DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — NASCAR and Limaland Motorsports Park announced today that the .250-mile banked clay oval in Lima, Ohio, will be part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series beginning in 2011. The 75-year-old facility, known as “Ohio’s Quarter-Mile of Thunder” is owned and operated by the University of Northwestern Ohio since 1998, and is the cornerstone of the university’s groundbreaking and acclaimed High Performance Motorsports Degree program. “We’re very proud and honored to announce that Limaland Motorsports Park is becoming a NASCAR Home Track for the 2011 season,” said UNOH President Dr. Jeff Jarvis. “The benefits for our competitors, fans and race track make this partnership with NASCAR another great step in making Limaland Motorsports Park the best quarter-mile dirt track in the country. “Everyone at the University of Northwestern Ohio and Limaland Motorsports Park is excited about the upcoming 2011 season and the continued growth of our relationship.” Stephen Farmer, UNOH’s vice president of development, oversees the college’s High Performance Motorsports program, and is a veteran of more than 30 years of broad-based motorsports experience. “During the past four years we have continued to enhance our relationship with NASCAR and its developmental racing series,” Farmer said. “Committing Limaland Motorsports Park as a NASCAR Home Track is another large step in continuing the relationship between the university and NASCAR.” George Silbermann, NASCAR managing director of racing operations, said the addition of Limaland is an exciting development. “NASCAR was founded on dirt tracks and Limaland Motorsports Park has a longtime history of being a great place to be for fans and participants on a weekly basis,” Silbermann said. “It’s a great combination that will bring an even higher profile to everyone involved with the track.” Limaland Motorsports Park’s K&N Modifieds will be its Division I in 2011, and the Budweiser Thunderstocks Division will be the Finalist Division II at the track. The 2010 champions in those two divisions were Todd Sherman and Tony Anderson, respectively. Founded in 1920, the University of Northwestern Ohio is a private, not-for-profit, co-educational institution. The university’s website is www.unoh.edu. NASCAR-licensed drivers in the track-designated Division I compete for track, U.S. state and Canadian province championships and point fund awards, as well as the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national championship. In addition, NASCAR introduced the “Finalist Program” in 2010 to honor the track’s Division II-V competitors. All NASCAR-licensed drivers competing in NASCAR-sanctioned divisions at sanctioned tracks are also eligible for NASCAR Participant Accident Insurance Coverage.

I dont know if this is going to be good or not for Limaland. Specially when all the other tracks surrounding them are the same rules, pretty much. For example is the rules for the UMP MODS the same or is there difference? I do beleive there is a big difference in rules for the stock cars. Please correct me if im wrong. Thanks.

Hurrayyyy!!!!! NAPCAR is here to save the day. The racing will be better, the payout will increase, the hotdogs will be hotter, the sun will shine brighter...... The short track world doesn't need NAPCAR. They'll run away as soon as they can't find a way to exploit this track and its fans.

business wise the move makes sense. lets hope the avg racer does not have to have a license to compete...it should be like a ump membership where if you have it get the benefits but your not forced to have one. as for stock rules lets hope they keep the class as it is...mo changes to 4 barrels or lookin like late models..this class is fine as it is.

and if they want to get the car count up in this class adding more cost to the class is the opposite direction they should be going. racin tires will wear out faster and become hard to find once you have two classes at the same track running them..plus your 16-20 teams already have street tires..4 barrels? ok adding another 600-1200 bucks is not in the best interest of us either. sacrifice all the locals teams in hopes of bringin in some other teams from tracks who haven't supported limaland ever before...this is backwards thinkin.
I'm all about makin the class better but why should the local teams change our cars? let the pelier cars come over and change their cars..or make oakshade cars heavier. don't penalize the cars and teams that have supported this track for several years.
