with there being nascar national points involved and extra point moneys,I see the little low budget mod teams having even more trouble being able to be competive.Sounds like a win-win situation for limaland and the big budget teams!Sounds like a WIN- WIN situation for everyone envolved . NASCAR wilL be an extra points payout at the end of the year on top of whats there now. Still will be UMP pooints and rules

i have to agree with racer50 sounds like a good deal and it cant be a big surpise unoh has been involved with nascar all year plus we ran ump for years and im not that impressed with those folks .i think its a good idea ,maybe waynesfield should do that might be the move they need to spark attention people have heard of nascar ,ump not so much. i am sure some limaland racers wont like it but i would have to see how it plays out before i would condemn itwith there being nascar national points involved and extra point moneys,I see the little low budget mod teams having even more trouble being able to be competive.Sounds like a win-win situation for limaland and the big budget teams!

If it works like the nascar sanctioned tracks like columbus and kil kare you'll have to buy the licence to race and crew members do too. Thats how they get money for their insurance and point money. Cost more for drivers crew is cheaper.great for the big budget teams...sucks for the avg racer unless the avg guy is not forced to get a license

I think they were trying to tell me you get a discount on pit pass if you buy in. But yes drivers must buy a licence. The way they talk you end up making it back but have to foot the initial cost. This was told to me by a racer at CMS.you got to pay the license fee for drivers? you got a team to worry about? didn't think so

what about the winged sprint cars didnt see any mention of them or there divisionIs this a dumb move for limaland ?could be a good thing for waynesfield. don't know how much diffrence the cars are between the nascar whelen series and the UMP cars. could help wrp with a better car count. DAYTONA BEACH, Florida — NASCAR and Limaland Motorsports Park announced today that the .250-mile banked clay oval in Lima, Ohio, will be part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series beginning in 2011.
The 75-year-old facility, known as “Ohio’s Quarter-Mile of Thunder” is owned and operated by the University of Northwestern Ohio since 1998, and is the cornerstone of the university’s groundbreaking and acclaimed High Performance Motorsports Degree program.
“We’re very proud and honored to announce that Limaland Motorsports Park is becoming a NASCAR Home Track for the 2011 season,” said UNOH President Dr. Jeff Jarvis. “The benefits for our competitors, fans and race track make this partnership with NASCAR another great step in making Limaland Motorsports Park the best quarter-mile dirt track in the country.
“Everyone at the University of Northwestern Ohio and Limaland Motorsports Park is excited about the upcoming 2011 season and the continued growth of our relationship.”
Stephen Farmer, UNOH’s vice president of development, oversees the college’s High Performance Motorsports program, and is a veteran of more than 30 years of broad-based motorsports experience.
“During the past four years we have continued to enhance our relationship with NASCAR and its developmental racing series,” Farmer said. “Committing Limaland Motorsports Park as a NASCAR Home Track is another large step in continuing the relationship between the university and NASCAR.”
George Silbermann, NASCAR managing director of racing operations, said the addition of Limaland is an exciting development.
“NASCAR was founded on dirt tracks and Limaland Motorsports Park has a longtime history of being a great place to be for fans and participants on a weekly basis,” Silbermann said. “It’s a great combination that will bring an even higher profile to everyone involved with the track.”
Limaland Motorsports Park’s K&N Modifieds will be its Division I in 2011, and the Budweiser Thunderstocks Division will be the Finalist Division II at the track. The 2010 champions in those two divisions were Todd Sherman and Tony Anderson, respectively.
Founded in 1920, the University of Northwestern Ohio is a private, not-for-profit, co-educational institution. The university’s website is www.unoh.edu.
NASCAR-licensed drivers in the track-designated Division I compete for track, U.S. state and Canadian province championships and point fund awards, as well as the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national championship. In addition, NASCAR introduced the “Finalist Program” in 2010 to honor the track’s Division II-V competitors.
All NASCAR-licensed drivers competing in NASCAR-sanctioned divisions at sanctioned tracks are also eligible for NASCAR Participant Accident Insurance Coverage.
