It not fair to ask a track owner to lose money week in and week out, just so some class has a place to race !!! I did not say you were unwanted... the fans did by not showing up to watch !!!

If we're looking at it that way they(the crowd) doesn't want any of the classes. In the last 2yrs they tried everything and nothing was the magic trick. As far as the track losing money I've seen lees fans at big class big money shows then on regular nights with non wings and three support classes. So let's just say we go with Lima lands winged sprints ,Mods and stocks. What is going to make them money if you have the same 350 fans in the stands? What I'm reading on here is everyone wants their favorite top classes ie wings, non wings, mods. What I've seen with my own eyes is that the track doesn't bring in enough to pay them without losing money, at least that what the last promoter and owner said in so many words. Some act like WRP is the only track having problems wich could be no further from the truth if it wanted to be. It's that way all over the country. Not trying to be a smart a.. but it seems the classes that can go any where and race are complaing the most and the guys who are counting on WRP to be there are the ones being shoved aside. Let's just wait to see what the new schedule is and make our plans from there.

Its not the racers fault that the "PROMOTER" cant PROMOTE the product and fill the seats.......average of 30 non-wing sprintcars a race..... yet they dont even have a sign off state route 33? you cant expect people to just show up if they dont even know about the place...... you can copy lima's schedule all you want but why would a fan want to watch the same show friday and saturday? make WMP a place worth coming too not a watered down lima!

Now I can agree with you on this post. Having their own show should be a help not a hinderence.

If I remember correctly there was a sign. I think it was gone after the very first season was over. Then Dean tried to put one out there last year. Maybe if one was put a mile or so away from the turn off in each direction, they may have to pay a little for the space, but it really could make a difference in attendance.

Landon is correct here. You can ask most promoters and they will tell you that the back gate is where they make the money these days. Most tracks are not getting the people in the stands like they used to, so the rely on the back gate to pay for the program.

This means you want to find the key classes that bring the most cars and buy the most pit passes on a regular basis. And the non wing sprint cars are bringing more and more cars every week, and you are not seeing the same thing you saw the night before at Limaland.

A joint venture between Limaland and WMP would be great, IF Lima would agree to run the WMP classes. It would not help any class other than the wing 360's because they would be the only cars running the 2 tracks, and they typically only have enough cars for a full feature, give or take a few.

Just my opinion, but running the non wing cars in Ohio is a good thing. WMP has found a unique market to this area with the non wing cars., and the growing number of cars each week prove that.

Anybody remember when Limaland was a non wing track, it was a long time ago, but they also had a great weekly turnout of non wing cars. It can be done again.

You say who wants to see the same class,s every week well some thing must be working lima has a good crowd every week. Plus their pits are packed with people. Does WRP really have a good car count in the Minisprints, compacs and trucks?? Remember the trucks were given a week off to get the counts up. Like i said before no one has the answer to any of this. Of coarse the non wings are gonna grow because they have been given the chance to run every week and it has taken what 4 yrs for it to grow. The first 3 non wings to run were Cub ,Conley and i forget the other one. But what happened to the Hewitt and the big mod race, what was it 5 grand to win. Those pits should of been packed with cars . I think thats what broke Deans back when only 39 mods showed up he proably took a big loss and i cant blame him for giving it up he tried every thing. WRP is caught right now behind a rock and a hard place as to get fans in the stands. Greg has taken it back to keep it open. If im not mistaken didnt Dean have a 3 yr lease, and now he is at Findlay and gonna run maybe 8 or 12 races. Im not knocking any one or any certain class if i didnt care about WRP i wouldnt of worked 4 yrs for nothing to help keep it open. Thats one reason why i tried to take a few pictures of the fans and cars it was free advertising and i spent many a sunday morning posting them it was free advertisiment. I might not of been the best pictures but i was limited on my space to roam. By working that gate a lot a people stop and talk and some of the comments i will keep to myself. I have no problem with the racing at WRP every class puts on a good show, People know WRP is there and you dont need to broadcast it, Kenny and Gerry have put out some good articles and comments on the racing to other web sites people know the track is there. What every the problem is i hope some one steps up with a solution to keep it open its a great little track And Greg and Tami are class act people. Dont mean to piss any one off but its just my 2 cents worth on it. We all have a right to voice our opinion.

One more thing Lima has a meet the drivers night, But one of the reasons i wanted that gate open was because WRP is one of the few places where drivers and crews could float freely between the pits and grandstand. I wish more drivers would of went up into the stands and mingle with the fans. WRP could have a meet the driver night every night. It was nice to see a lot of the drivers taking advantage of doing it.

Skip ... you are soooo right !!! And every week at limaland, attica, fremont....it is not the same show , that the thing about racing new results every week . So it's a new show !!! with butts in the seats to see it . These tracks have a product on the track that people like to watch !!! Count the billboards around limaland, count the business names from this area on this cars ,count the number that have a billboard and advertise on a race car , count the number of people these businesses employ ....there is a connection !!! Lets say Waynesfield goes to these known area businesses that support racing in this area, if they have money invested in a wing sprint car ,e-mod,or stock car then the answer is easy !!! No they will not buy a billboard or support the track because the track doesn't support there efforts to advertise in area !!! Like I said before I like non wing racing , car counts are not the problem !!! support by fans and businesses is !!! Most people will watch all three classes at limaland, attica, fremont,Eldora etc. Because they want to see fast race cars , driven by talented race car drivers which the non wing racers are . But you will not see compacts at this tracks because you just can't put a junk car on the track and tell these knoweldgable fans this racing !!! then make them pay to see it and sit through it !!! JMO

I agree with you on every thing except calling the compacs a junk car. Its called a starter class and low budget. Every one has to start some where with in their budget. The minisprints are not really a low budget class, But to run Compacs ,trucks and minisprints all in one night doesnt get it, space them out. Your right Lima has a lot a billboards and those 360,s have a lot a business,s backing them and the followers show up at lima. The old Allentown and the stockcars about every car was backed by and bar and each car had a following. Every one has their likes and dislikes as to what they want to see run and a track has to capture the fan and hold on to them. Like i have said before that when Tony anderson wins at lima there are some times at least 20 people from the pits that go out on the track for a picture. That doesnt include the fans in the stands. Wonder where Tony and his fans are at on a sat night, in indiana with his mod and stock. He leaves a track proably 10 miles from his home to go across the border. And he was a backer of WRP with his money. I wasnt there at this one race but when Ray Marshall helped out to bring in the 360,s along with the non wings i heard they had a real good crowd. Its hard for a track to make it with those to headliners on a single night but thanks to Ray and his stepping up.

There are many reasons Lima has a good fan base... there owned by a college and all the kids that go there also go to watch the races, the facilty is 100 times nicer that WMP, and that place has been there for 50 years!!!! You cant compair these two race tracks at all..... skip the statement "People know WRP is there and you dont need to broadcast it" may be the dumbest thang ive heard on here.....why the heck wouldnt you want to braodcast it.... lima and eldora literally broadcast on the radio and tv..... in the grand sceam of the NOBODY knows WMP is there...just because the very limited racing popultion has heard of WMP doesnt mean they are going to leave there favotite track to come watch here...as you well know most fans dont have the money to go out 2-3 nights a week ...... so why are promotor so focused on getting the lima fans to come to WMP... they should be up at the lake handing out flyers at every bar on friday night, going to all the local high school and give half price gen. admit. tickets ECt ECT....... And as for the HEWITT Classic...... When the promotor doesnt think and schedules his only big race 1 day before Osky 15grand to win and the knoxville non-wing nationals he should be happy he got the car that he got......

Most racing fans live by the pc and looking into racing news. Yes lima and other tracks do have the money to put commercials flyers and other things WRP doesnt .Dean had two billboards in the lima area and thats not cheap. Me and others did pass out flyers. The best word of mouth is the pc and that is the cheapiest form of advertising. Like i said Gerry and Kenny have done a very good job of posting results with great blow by blow details of the nights racing. The track has been there long enought that people know it is there and what they are racing on any given night.

Skip I agree with you again !!! As far as radio advertising Yes Yes Yes Limaland , Eldora, Attica , Fremont do advertise... as far as paying for it I doubt it or it is discounted or traded for something, that is what promoting is all about... it networking !!! Limaland does business with radio station , radio station promotes limaland events. you do business with people who do business with you! I hate to use this as a example but Ron Hammons owns a local business an chooses racing as one form of advertising along with radio and tv ads. Now waynesfield could help Ron out by giving his team a place close to his business to advertise in his customers base on sat night !!! Should he buy a billboard at waynesfield or advertise with them NO ! And we know he believes in advertising and supports racing , but waynesfield does not support Rons racing advertising efforts !!! Ron is just one of many businesses who choose to advertise on race cars in this area.... just trying to show you there is a connection to the support waynesfield is getting or not getting !!! And Skip you like all the classes at lima because they have entertainment value lets be real .If I told you skip lima was going to ad a four class ( compacts ) would you be ok with raising ticket prices ? I would not pay one cent more for a compact race that I'm not going to watch. And I know you go to the pits at lima so it would be the same to you, but you can see my point. jmo

Ok, just to stifle all of this ... I'M leasing WRP. I'm running 360 Winged Sprints to make some of you happy. (Hope I can contain all of the sponsorship monies that will be rolling in with this decision). I'm running Open Non-wing Sprints to make some of you happy. I'm dropping ALL support classes to make some of you happy. I'm ending my lease (as a result of losing my Butt after a very short time) to make all of you who disagreed with my choices happy. ... and no Skip you can't watch my gate. Heck, THAT probably made some of you happy! Keep an eye out for my schedule ... OPENING NIGHT : tba CLOSING NIGHT : maybe closer than you think. Any ?"s, call the Shobe's.

Act, that would be better than doing the same thing that is not working !!! Is there any doubt in anyones mind that a person like Gene Frankurt could turn this place around !!! Now we know he is employed by limaland ( ex promoter of Attica ) but it takes that kind of know how if you want success !!! ....because you are up against promoters at other racing track that are getting it right , and they are having success at it !!! those who think limaland success is because of the college are wrong !!! I didn't say it doesn't help but what about Attica , fremont, eldora, oakshade no racing college to those towns ! just promoters putting on shows that work in there areas !!! and until waynsefield can put on the show this area will support there will be no change ! if you give a customer the product they want ... they will buy !!!! No one is buying it yet after 4 or 5 years ! All businesses that don't sell there products or services dont Succeed !!! We will just have to wait and see, I would never question Greg good intentions WE ALL KNOW WHAT A GOOD MAN HE IS !!!! Thats something we all can agree on !!! Sorry if I upset anyone, that is never my intention. Promoting a race track is not easy some are successful at it, while others struggle but If I were promoting a track, I would model it off of tracks that are having success. It not as easy as putting up a Mcdonalds or is it ( you like whats on the menu, at a price you can afford) or this would not be the richest franchise in food ! No one here want to see waynesfield not succeed !!!

And people wonder why the car count is low at WMP. Read all the post on" Facts on WMP 2011". This is stupid. Are these really about the FACTS. Let the owner do what is in his control. I feel he will make it work.

One thing for sure if someone was wanting to build a car to race in a support class there this board would scare them out of it.

Exactly, Hope everyone else can see it that way. I surely wouldn't build one or buy one with all this BS. So everyone keep talking SH** and see what happens. At this point nobody can blame the track blame the talkers.
