I just wanted to take a moment to reflect on the banquet from last night. It was a night filled with emotion and joy. Fro me personally I couldn't have felt any prouder to see my son walk up there for the first time to pick up a trophy. He still has a lot to learn but overall I was very proud of what all he picked up this season for never racing anything in his life.....ever. There was a changing of the guard of sorts also with Dean saying goodbye (in a way) to WRP and handing the reigns back over to Greg and Tami. Greg assured all race fans that WRP will be getting back to "grassroots" style of racing next season. We won't have quite as aggressive as a schedule as Dean was able to provide but we will return all the same classes that ran last season. Dean also announced that although he won't be at WRP next season that he'll still be promoting a few races at Millstream next season. He assured everyone that he would never compete a show against Greg as most of his shows will be Sunday shows. There were some very emotional moments also. Long time racer Bill Gross was honored for his commitment to WRP and support of local racing over the years. Dean was fighting back tears as he introduced his good friend and racer Bill. Bill then wanted to thank everyone for being there in his time of illness last season. Despite a severe medical issue last season Bill was able to race a full season in the truck class and be very competitive. In the few short months that we've been in the off season Bill has had a huge supporting cast of friends that have helped him build a new truck. Bill hopes to be able to take the green flag in this new truck next season that he appropriately has called his "last ride". Bill let everyone know that his illness has taken a turn for the worse but he is going to live life to the fullest. It was a very emotional speech and many fought back tears.....Bill, we all love you and thank you for everything. It's been my honor to not only know you but to have had the chance to be on the same track with you. I look forward to seeing you take the green in that new truck next season! The night continued on with the crowning of champions and the chassis give-away for perfect attendance participants. The winner for the chassis were chosen by a last man standing format. All names were put into a jar and if their name was pulled then they were out until the winner was pulled last. One note of humor was the fact that Chris Hicks and Matt Twining have battled on the track all season in the truck class and would you believe that the last two names in the jar were theirs...lol Reflecting on the season I would like to say thanks to Dean, Jane and all of my fellow employees at WRP along with all of you fine racers for an awesome season. I have enjoyed every moment and have a new respect for racing in general. I look forward to 2011 and continuing with Greg and Tami. Which brings me to one final highlight, Gerry Keysor (our fine announcer) informed the crowd that he will indeed be returning for the 2011 campaign....Great News!!!! Have a wonderful off season and may all your holiday events be joyful.......see you next season friends!!

There was no point fund for the 360s. Hoosier paid for the champions jacket, and Dean footed the bill for the trophy.

That is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard anyone complain about. How dare they give a guy a free jacket and a trophy.

Ummmm, OK, but they were paying a purse for the races they did have for the 360s, so why didn't they have 30 cars each night?

Not every racer is a 'points chaser'. A jacket and a trophy doesn't pay the bills, $$ at the end of the night does, or at least helps. So then, why didn't they have a higher car count on the nights the 360's ran...not a big enough pay out???

I have to say that most of the guy i know in the 360"s race for points......Their is no better way to got driver to keep showing up week after week. Hell look at what lima just did to the point fund. Maybe waynesfield should take some notes for all their classes, go out and get more sponsers to support their track. Their not going to come to you, you have to go out and get'em. not much effort = not much in resaults.
