great place to race but payout needs to be better from 2nd through 20th. only one guy wins but for stock class the difference in super stock pay and thunder car pay is barely anything. fans are awesome there and program is ran very well. a better point fund might entice a few more cars

They started small with the payout and made it a guaranteed pay no matter how many cars they get. That way everybody knew what they were getting when they came in the gate, whether there was 5 cars or 35 cars. Harold did it that way so nobody had to worry about the purse ever being cut, and in 2 seasons, it never has been. It was also done in an effort to save money while the track tries to rebuild their car count and fan support. The modified car count has gone up from averaging around 15 cars 2 years ago to averaging over 20 last season. The purse for that class was raised this year. I think the same thing will be done for the super stocks and thundercars if their car count continues to grow. At the end of the season the super stocks were getting close to 20 every week, which is a huge improvement from years past. I wouldn't be surprised if they raise the purse throughout the field for next year.
The track is definitely the best it has been in at least 10 years and should get even better for next year with the improvements they are making to the facility in the offseason. I agree about the points fund, and I think it would be a good idea to create a combined points fund with other tracks to get more cars to race at both whenever they can. Maybe they could offer a discount in pit admission price to anybody that raced at both Lima and Montpelier or Gas City and Montpelier in the same weekend. Anything to get more cars in the pits and fans in the stands.
