Wish I could help you out. But one thing. Get a 5 rated suit I see so many guys wearing a 1 rated suit that are called fire suits but really aren't. A 1 rated suit is good for 3 seconds in a fire , not even enough time to stop a car let alone for the fire crew to reach you. With a 5 rated suit you have 11 seconds , not a lot of time but does give you a chance. Both my boys race and I would not let them in the car with a 1 rated suit. Look around on Ebay and racingjunk.com but don't skimp on saftey. PLEASE

Thats what I plan on getting. I had a 1 rating suit last year, just enough to get by.

Don't go cheaply on the brain bucket either. It could mean the difference of becoming a vegetable or not.....think about it. Be as safe as you can. Just my 2 cents worth of info.

About the helmet, make sure its Snell SA rated. New helmets are Snell SA2010. The ratings updated every 5 years so some sites/stores still sell 2005 and older. Most "sanctions " give a ten year grace which means you can use a 2005 helmet until 2015 and a 2010 until 2020. That being said, SA2000 and older are "technically" obsolete. Whatever you do, do not purchase an M rated helmet. M is motorcycle. Some companies sell them as competition helmets and most look the same. But they are not fire resistant. Most M rated helmets are very inexpensive so they are attractive to those on a budget. I know a company that offers SA2005 helmets for $159 and double layer suits (5 rated) are $279 for one piece and $299 for a two piece. I wont advertise for the company on this site but if you're interested ill be happy to forward their info to you. Be safe.

Buy a NEW Snell 2010 helmet and take care of it.... Compact, modified, or sprintcar your still going fast enough to get hurt.....Simpson sells their "Voyager for $380".....as for a suit... its your choice but i wouldnt race without at least a double layer.....

Thanks for the advice to him Jeremy and Landon. I had this same discussion with him about two days ago. he was ready to jump all over a helmet because it was a Bell helmet and has a nice graphics paint job on it. I told him to make sure it's SA rated and not M rated.....sure enough it was M rated. For the last season he was using my Impact Charger SA2005 rated helmet and that will still be his stand by but I would prefer that he get one that is fitted for him and not me. I want him around way past my time on this earth.
Jeremy....feel free to PM me with that info. I'll be glad to check it out.
