engine set back?

how do most tracks check engine set back for pure stocks. on the track rules i am finding engine in stock location but it doesnt say how they police this. any insight would be greatly appreciated. thanks

usually #1 spark plug must be in line or ahead of the upper balljoint at most tracks. Usually its just an eyeball thing from what I have seen.
