So rules are on a restart that you can't pass before the flagstand. I agree this is the rule.
Now when a car in 2nd position breaks on the restart pulls up out of the racing line, is barely moving, and waves his hand out the window, it only makes sense for the 3rd place car and ALL the other cars in line to drive around him on the inside. The driver of the broken car did the right thing to avoid causing a big pileup. ALL the cars driving around him on the inside also did the right thing to avoid a pile up. Only the 3rd place driver gets penalized 2 spots for passing before the flagstand.
According to ONE official the driver in 3rd place should slam on the brakes and stay behind the second place car and cause a big pile up. That's a GOOD IDEA! If your an idiot.
How is it that only 1 car passed the broken car, yet every other car was right behind him in turn 1?????? Why isn't there no yellow flag thrown for this broken car, but when an orange cone gets hit and is still in the air they throw one in the middle of an awesome race even though it landed in the infield? How do you complain about car counts in the drivers meeting and then tell someone that the 3rd place car should slam on his breaks and cause a pileup so they can tear up 5 cars for no reason and take the chance of them not being back next week? Hows come the ONE official who makes this JUDGEMENT CALL refuses to talk to someone about it? Hows come that ONE official refuses to look at a video unless it is recorded from a camera in the infield straight on the start finish line.
I guess someone that sits up in a litttle wooden box with a head set on should make all these decisions without using any common sense. Common sense would tell me if a car slams on the brakes the same time everyone behind him is getting on the gas there will be a lot of tore up race cars. It's just to bad that someone thinks since he sits in a little wooden box with a head set he doesn't make any mistakes.
If I was working at a track I would like for problems to be taken care of at the track not on a racing forum. I would not be posting this if ONE official wouldn't have refused to talk to me. I'm sure I'm going to run out and tell people to support a track that does something like this.
