How hot does it have to get before the track has to wonder about drivers and fans dealing with this heat.

this is one of those situations where the track is screwed either way. If they cancel because of the heat then people are going to complain because its BS that they cancel the show just because of a little heat. But if they run it then people are going to complain and say its ridiculous that they are racing because its too hot for the drivers to be in their suits in this heat. Personally i think they should cancel its just not worth risking the drivers safety because of the heat

I personally don't see them canceling. They wouldn't cancel Indy 500 for heat, or a NASCAR race, or the BAJA races. So why cancel. There are diehard racers and diehard fans. LETS RACE! DRINK LOTS AND LOTS OF WATER TODAY. See ya there!

modracer you sure missed a good evening of dirt track racing. yes it was hot, but the action on the track was even hotter. good competition in all classes. and it did cool somewhat temperature-wise.

Don't know where Dr. Speedy has been lately, but WRP is not INDY car, or not NASCAR......where the drivers have cool boxes to keep them cool by blowing a/c type air on them. And the last time I noticed, the biggest payout at WRP was in Sprint car at $1000 for a special race on a regular weekly schedule. Myself and others included, no doubt, don't care to wear the stifling hot fireproof suits and underwear that we have to wear and the gloves that we wear and the helmets that we wear.......now if he would like to pay for cool boxes for all the drivers so that we could stay cool in 100 degree weather, I will come and race. As to the comments about "die hard racers", "complain if we do, complain if we don't" etc......sometimes we should probably listen more closely to the people who are trained to give important information concerning our health. For example, when there are heat and air quality EMERGENCY warnings in our area that would probably be a good time to reschedule.

Well, I have been a race driver, I know how hot it is in the suit and the helmet. But fans still show up, and drivers do too. And once you get the car moving, you forget how hot it is and you get the adrenelin flowing, heat isn't what you are thinking of.
